My daughter found this guy on one of her Hosta's in Cadillac. It is now here in a Jar.  As you can see by the fingers, he's big.

I'd say it was a D-8, maybe a D-9. That sucker is big, and I don't like the looks of that horn on it's head either.

It's called a Spurge Hawk moth.   Hyles euphorbiae
That hook or horn is most often a moth in the sphinx moth clan.  They can be big'uns.

I don't need them on my hostas. Bad enough I have those horn worms on my tomato plants. Good fodder for the OWB.

I was so curious last night, I spent an hour last night looking at moth & butterfly albums online.  ;D

I guess that big lead the Tigers had on KC got boring for me.  :)
