For several months a friend said he was going to have a tree service take down some trees next to his house.  The day finally came and as part of the deal, the tree service delivered three sycamore logs and three pine logs, all about 12 ft.

My first milling was on a limby part of the sycamore.  It yielded several 1x 12's, of which I am mighty proud.

Beautiful grain on that wood.  Hope the rest is on par and something special is made.  Thanks for sharing.

Very nice John and it looks like the best is yet to come.  Wish we lived closer so I could come over and play sawmill with you. :)

Here are two Sycamore Projects.  You will need to skip to about page 13 on each of them to see the actual sawing, but then you would miss the first 12 pages.  There also was the original Sycamore Project.  Use the "Search" function above and type in sycamore for more reading.  ;D

MM and Post,  I doubt I will be able to mill this sycamore with the expertise of WDH and Customsawer.  I should have paid more attention to the milling (and not the food) at the Sycamore projects. :D

Jaygtree.   I did not have Anchorseal so I painted the ends with thick latex paint, whether it helps or not.

GMM, ME too.  :D
