I have my thoughts and own 2 hives myself but what do you think?

My advice on aging gracefully... ride fast bikes and date faster women, drink good tequila, practice your draw daily, be honest and fair in your dealings, but suffer not fools. Eat a hearty breakfast, and remember, ALL politicians are crooks.

Agree, I looked up their patent along with one from the 40s it is a nice idea but I will stick with what I have not spending 600 bucks.  Plus my local supplier is a great guy. The money stays in the community. And pvc for my hydro project.  And I had similar feelings to the guy below. Maybe in a few years one will pop up on Craigs for a few bucks. It reminds me of late info commercials with Turn Key money making investments.  Maybe I should try and sell Asteroid Insurance.  This is like giving a sawmill to someone who has no idea about how to sharpen even a chainsaw or can distinguish between maple to cedar trees. Or cottonwood to alder. On indiegogo they have made 2.3 million in a day. I should sell the cat  :D. What a crazy world we live in. :)

mometal77, have you ever used a top bar hive? or are you doing all Langstroth style?  I kept bees with my older brother for a couple years when we were teenagers, and it was kind of fun.  I want to get into it again this year, and I plan on building a couple top bar style hives.  We have wild bees on our treefarm, and every year I hear swarms, and have seen a few, so I want to see if I can gather up som free bees and give them a place to stay 8)

How would you know if you took too much honey?  Wife is going top bar this year.

If you know someone that you could borrow an ol' hive from& get some lemongrass oil.Place just afew drops inside the hive.I've had best luck to hang the hive around  4-6 ft,above the ground.
Works for me.I caught 4 swarms last season doing it.Mark,,,,
