Cherry and walnut. The walnut is smaller, but I believe it is destined for cookies.

Is that in lumber or cookies?

They worked great! I did break one of the end stops when I let a log go too violently, but I will re-engineer that feature.

I think this would be a really great idea, made out of channel iron to the height of the fenders, and all one-piece that could be lifted on or off with a FEL.  ;)

For your end stops, I'd suggest leaving the tops cut square. That way when a log rolls up against one it will be pushing against the inner face and won't tend to split the stop.

Locate one screw/bolt near the outside at the top, another one near the inside at the bottom, and one right in the middle. That will minimize the tendency to split. Adding even more fasteners is OK, because wood tends to distribute the loads between them all.

I'm follo
wing with interest :).

Just in time too.  Sure don't want anything dinging up those fenders.   Great idea.

I recently had to go through my little sawmill trailer and fix a bunch of stuff for this reason. She got new fenders, new bolts and bushings, new shackles, rockers, and even LED tail lights. The brakes and bearings are all good too. I need the trailer to last a couple more years.

The salt destroys trailers in the winter. Although this probably didn't help. No wonder the shackles only had 1/8" of steel left before they broke.  ;D

That is putting that trailer to work!   I think trailers are generally the most abused pieces of equipment in the yard.  Even when they are maintained we usually overload em and bang em up.     I am on my 4th set of lights from little boo boos loading or parking.    Logboy is sure right about the salt.......just kills a trailer.    My 2001 Featherlite flatbed tries to hide when  it sees me coming with timber   ::)

That's how many bdft are in each log. Scribner Decimal C. That should tell you how big they are.  Those are now slabbed and kiln dried and stacked in here.

Or maybe the photo system is screwy. The photo was right side up on my iPad and iPhone but upside down on my computer.  I rotated it, now it's upside down on my iPad and iPhone but right side up on my computer.
