I am torn between the Husky 350 or the Stihl MS290. Right now at the end of the year there does not seem to be any deals. When is the best time of the year to catch sales?

Here, both brands are on sale during the fall for the peak wood cutting season. The MS29O has the power (56cc) but I think the Husky would be more durable. This should start a lively discussion.

Last year I got the Ms 310 Iliked the bigger chain . If they an't on sale ask them to start one I used cash to start a sale  ;D No check or card I mean green of course it was a saw shop not a box store.

I was quite shocked to find out that the Stihl Dealers in the area had different prices. I thought that Stihl set the price? The closest Stihl dealer had the best deal it was $20 cheaper, had 18" instead of a 16" bar and offered 1 extra chain.

I just don't know enough to know why I might want certain options.

I just bought a house on the Maumee River and I Really like looking at it! It was impossible to see it through the trees when we moved here in August. I will at least make a dent in it before spring.

My personal choice would be the Stihl cause the servicing dealer is better for Stihl around here .  I know that the 029 is advertised for $329 here and with cash he would do a little better than that .

I have a 350 husky that has given me no problems and is a nice firewood saw . I  have a 372xp Husky that has had starter problems since I bought it .  I also own 2 Stihls  an 041 and an 028  . I will be adding a  066 to the mix soon also .

The main reason I have the Stihl310 that I got last year is because of service.
My wife got me the saw for Christmas last year, and the savvy shopper that she is she went to both outfits and asked a ton of questions. The Stihl dealer didn't mind all the "silly" questions she asked but she said the Husky dealer couldn't quite hide his impatience. She then went to Mike Senty's who is a log home builder and asked his foreman what saw they used and how often they needed repairs. Mark told her that they had changed from Husky to Stihl two years before because they weren't happy with the service and the warranty the received from the Husky dealer. She went straight back to the Stihl dealer and bought me the 310 pro.
I've heard several complaints about the Husky warranty compared to Stihl's, have any of you compared the warranties?
