Two new somewhat serious tools 😀

So yesterday I picked up a ridgid jp0610 jointer and the day before that I picked up a ridgid 4330 planer, so now I can start making v some really nice stuff starting by cutting down a tree all the way to finished product.

Anyone have any experience with either of these machines?

Any tips or tricks anyone could offer me this is my first planer and jointer so I'm open to any comments.

I have both of those machines and they have served me well. Don't try to hog off too much at one time with the planer, don't plane dirty boards, and get your "disposable " planer blades resharpened rather than throwing them away.

Look at the edge of the boards and see how the grain (growth rings) are oriented. Best to feed the boards where the knives are removing wood with the slope of the grain, not against it.

Thanks for the advice and I'm looking into getting a large sharpening stone to do the blades myself. I hate spending money lol

Good for you! WDH give some good advice that is not often considered. nearly every board has some SOG and if you orient the the board as WDH suggests, you will greatly reduce tear out.
