MM, be careful of that heat. Been hitting in the 90's here and I'm sure in your area too!

be sure you drink plenty of it i had to got to dr last week and was severly dehydrated (had a hard time even drawing the blood for the test :o ) potassium was very low and vitamin d was extremely low (i thought that comes from the sun so i blame that on all the rainy weather ;D ) but 3 more new pills a day and im back at it and feeling pretty good ;)

i get to change from the 10' pine logs today ;D but guess what to ??? 12' pine theres only about 2-3 tt loads of them though i thought we were not gonna saw them for a while but he changed his mind :-\  oh well i will get them finished some day im sure of it :D :D :D

I agree, this heat is rough.
It's 66 degrees here right now, and almost 80 at the mill.  ;)
Unfortunately, the sunshine is in a liquid state right now, and that makes it tough to finish the thinning project I'm on.

I'm just glad I got an umbrella for the mill!  I have some folks that want me to saw in the heat too!  But I'd rather be milling than sitting in the office anyway!

Thankfully we had high clouds all day today so at least we were not in the direct sun.

I am beginning to wonder about my sanity.  I am supposed to be sawing "part time" but the logs keep rolling in and is messing with my 2-3 day work weeks.   :-\

There is 3Mbf+ on the trailer and we have not even put a small dent in the log whacks and with more logs coming.   :-\

Was looking around for some practice wood to make some pallets remembered that a large white pine had split about two years ago. It was off the ground due to the large limbs keeping it aloft. It appeared sound only the bark was pealing off rather easily. Figured it would make a good large log to practice with and I need some lumber for pallets. Expected to see lots of rot and insect damage, much to my surprise it was good and insect free. Ended up with about 90bf of 4/4 x10" x 10'  8) There are two more 8' chunks to practice with tomorrow.

All of these logs are from beetle (?) killed trees.  As it happens so many times this is really a salvage operation to prevent a total loss.  There is no market for logs from dead trees.

I forgot to mention that much to my surprise I am encountering many Longleaf logs in this job.  Many times I am having to run the LubeMizer continuously to prevent blade buildup.  It is pretty, but also a pain to saw.   :-\

Longleaf would not be native where it came from so I highly suspect that the customer's Dad set those trees out when he built his home many years ago.

If I understand it right, 3Mbf is 3,000 bf, right?  So, how to you say, in words, 3Mbf?  I want to say 3 Million, but that ain't right...

Lumber is measured with the Roman Numeral M for 1000.   ;D

MM is often used for a million, I guess because Romans could not count that high.  Me either today.

Learn something new today. Thanks.

Still doing dirt work before more rains. :( Had to shut down early yesterday. One of those days I had to rest. Better this morning and hope to finish the settlement pond and install my treatment plant, if it doesn't rain.

Oh, still stacking more logs too! ;D They are now talking about a storm to start forming in the Gulf Of Mexico early next week.
