I just spent 2 1/2 days sawing up an old growth maple that had died on the stump and stood for 3 years before being fell. Then it was cut into a bunch of 8-10' logs. Not just the main trunk, but all of the big branches too and left to dry for another couple of years. Ended up sawing it all into 1&2" slabs for the guy. It was a fun project trying to picture the wood grain and making the best cuts. There was probably a full pickup load of small stuff that would make great clocks. Some mid sized slabs for end tables, some 2"x26" slabs that would make awesome tables and the rest the guy is planing to resaw and make flooring.
