Anyone own both?  I passed on a nice 362 yesterday for $500 but was offered a 461c today for 600 and am thinking about it.  The 461c is a bit more than I thought I'd want but I figure I could resell and not be out much $ if I wanted to go down to a 362 or even a 261 (my fav current thread is the 261 evaluation thread).  We've got 14 acres to thin & clearcut and my old 260 is just ..well it is tired  :o (might be 12 years old, much abused).    Trees are cherry & poplar mix a bit of oak, diameters are 16-25", nothing special.  Thinning is mostly oak pocket where I have to release some old field (wolf) trees.

Can't compare the 2 but I have a 441 & a 440 and like them both. I paid $959 for the 441 a little over a year ago so if you're getting a new one for that price sounds like a good deal. I bought my son a 461 many years ago (so he would quit borrowing mine) and I have never heard him mention any problems with it.

   Good luck.

Not new, but it is the mtronic which I am sure I'd like.

Both sound like good deals.  It just comes down to how much saw you need.  The 362 is a good 'tweener.  It's significantly more saw than what you're using, but not in the 461 class.  The 461 is heavier of course, because it's more saw.  If in doubt - get 'em both.   :)  Then you can use the one that suits the job.  For what it's worth, I have a 362cm and it's big enough for what I do.  If I was doing more, I'd want more saw.

Just to clarify, the 461 is a great saw, but it is not an M-tronic saw. The 461 has a standard adjustable carb on it.

461 is a proven design with better AV, fuel economy and improved balance over the 460 it replaced.

Thanks guys, well he was a no show so..the hunt continues.  Maybe just buy a new one in which case it would have to be the 362cm.

what is the list price price for a 362cm?    .05 lb heavier than my 290 and lots more power. I like my 241 cm and thinking this would be a good replacement for the 290.

nativewolf, your MS441C vs 362c thread title is miss leading . I think you miss printed 461.

MS461 and MS441c are the same weight but the 461 has more h.p.
The 441 has a better anti vibe setup as it's steel spring mounts and the 461's are rubber.
The 441 has a better air filtration setup as it's air injection .

If I was you I'd spend the money and have full warranty if you buy the latest upgraded new MS362CM. Big brother in design to the new edition MS261CM and little brother to the yet to be introduced MS462CM.
