Stated sawing some 1X4 cedar for a friend. Got the log down to a 4X5 cant, too small for my hydraulic log turner, so I just grabbed the cant with my left hand to flip it over and caught the finger nail of left hand trigger finger between the cant and a backstop. Tore the nail off, plus a bad rip down the side of the finger. Hasty trip to the ER, 6 stitches plus x-ray shows a cracked bone. Anti biotic shot plus a bottle of pills. Conference tomorrow to decide about the cracked bone...
There will be no pics, let's just say it looks worse than Magicman's toes... ::)
I'm under strict supervision by the wife, 2 kids, one sister, and a couple of in-laws plus some big red-neck neighbors, to stay away from the mill and shop until I heal up and danger of infection is past.. How do you say "cabin fever" I'm about to go nuts... ::)

I am thinking, with that much supervision, they should be able to keep up with the mill, while you sit in the easy chair sipping on a nice bottle of the antibiotic of your choice. Hmmm, it might take longer than expected to get over this.

All right LeeB, you had to ask,,here's the rest of the story..I put a post size cedar log on the mill.(you know, the kind that folks bring you and want 2X12 out of). Made the opening cut, flipped 90 degrees and started second cut, managed to saw both backstops. A bit bent out of shape, I grabbed the cant with my left hand, determined to get one more cut with the damaged blade, and caught my trigger finger between the cant and backstop. Tore the nail off, cracked the bone, and needed six stitches to sew up the hide damage.
Lesson learned..When (not if) you mess up, stop and take a break, don't keep sawing..
BTW, the same log is still on the mill as is the damaged blade.

Get the stitches out friday week, meanwhile twice daily cleaning and anti-biotic pill every 6 hours..
