Hi, asking for my brother who's not too mechanically inclined.
He's on a very small fixed income so looking for someone who does repairs as a sideline. He has an older (10 years?) Craftsman saw that is sorely in need of a tuneup.
He's between Charlottesville and Gordonsville.

Sorry if this isn't the place to ask, I looked for a regional subforum, but didn't see one.

Regards,
Tom

Try an ad in the local craigslist. "Wanted: chainsaw repair for Craftsman {Model #}". May find someone to do it cheaply. In general, a 2008 Craftsman is a lower end, occasional use clamshell saw. If much labor is involved, it will cost more to repair than buy a new saw. These saws can work fine for the homeowner, light firewood hoarder....but to keep them going, you need to repair yourself.
Husky: 372xt, 272xp, 61, 55 (x3)...Poulan: 315, 4218 (x3), 2375, 2150, 2055, 2000 (x3)...Stihl 011AVT...Homelite XL...Saws come in broken, get fixed or parted, find new homes

Yeah, that was the next step.
Definitely an occasional use saw and good chance it's not cost effective to repair. On the other hand there's no way he can afford a decent used saw in decent shape, much less a new one.
