that sounds like a great day. Hmmm wonder if I should make a trip this weekend? maybe not. I want to get my mill done
this week should be very good. there was more snow in greenvile. 3 to 4 ft anyway. talked to someone that went to rangeley he said there was 6 ft in the mountains

I'm envious,  Maine is high on my favorite place to ride list. Have hubbed out of Presque Isle and Caribou. Wish I could go every year.

Just a little bit of fun in sub zero temperatures :)
This is what happens when you get home with just a little bit of daylight left. My son wanted a ride so I gave him a ride then had a little fun. He liked watching better.

Crusarius

Well, as long as everything goes right I am heading up riding saturday morning 2/2/19.

Rode the past 2 weekends in the Long Lake area.
Trails good to excellent, traffic not too bad, chilly tho.

My advice on aging gracefully... ride fast bikes and date faster women, drink good tequila, practice your draw daily, be honest and fair in your dealings, but suffer not fools. Eat a hearty breakfast, and remember, ALL politicians are crooks.

Crusarius

Thanks Pete, thats good to know. right now kinda looking like we are going to drop at the grist mill and ride from there. Hopefully there is enough snow down that far. its always nice to avoid the bar loop, that usually avoids most of the traffic and smoother trails.

Crusarius

well, crap. My buddy had to go and jinx us. he said "now if the lights work"

Remind me to bury him in the snow this weekend.

All 4 of the trailer light wires corroded and broke. its pretty freaking cold to be rewiring a trailer in the driveway. I really wish I had a real shop.

Raider Bill

I wish someone would come up with a wireless trailer light system. Seems trailer wiring/lights is a universal PITA.

they are not bad if done right. these were not done right.

butt connectors and electrical tape. that equals disaster on any trailer but a snowmobile trailer it so much worse.

All fixed. it sure is cold out there. Of course I bought 5w20 oil when I needed 5w30. Today does not seem to be my day. Real question is do I go swap it and do the oil change or just deal with what I have?

Crusarius

Well I got everything done and headed out yesterday. Dropped at the gristmill and rode towards osceola / redfield area. Trails were great up till lunchtime then were spotty after that. But still quite a bit better than many other days I have had in the past.

Rode 150 miles. Good day. Ended the day in the freezing rain. Glad I went saturday and not today.

The trails just opened here a few weeks ago. Just did not have the snow.

Absolutly a PITA. I have a magnetic set that I use on occasion. I also saw at Princess auto has a wireless set. pricey but might solve a lot of PITA

Where's the gristmill Crusarius?
D

Crusarius

parish. Exit 34 I think of 81. maybe exit 33?

dgdrls

OK  I recognize it now, just south of 104,

you make to the east end of the Redfield reservoir?

D

Crusarius

made it to cedar pines for lunch then up to osceola trading post and up around the big logo in the middle of the snowmobile map :) came back through pulaski to parish

Crusarius

I would post a map but the app I was using flaked out halfway through.

dgdrls

no worries,  sounds like it was a nice ride,

D

Crusarius

definitely good ride. Little sore today :) I think I rode more miles yesterday than all of last year.

I have a friend in the Adams area, lots of snow there.
Another fatality in the town of Webb system.
Guy got stuck and was either standing or walking in the trail, got hit, all over for him.
That system is heavily used and I avoid it like the plague.

When we left from gristmill the lady there said be careful its icy they already air lifted someone that day and it was only 9:30.

Looks like this has been a pretty bad year for deaths. Hope it doesn't create more regulation.

Not my bag, but a lot of folks in my neighborhood head up on the weekends or during the week if they don't have any storm work to do. We are just a few hours south of 'the system'. Word on the street thru my associates in the NYSP is that yes, the major injury/death quota is pretty high this year. The normal Monday morning question at the coffee pot for the state level guys and dispatchers is "how many this weekend?". I think they have been averaging 2-3 each weekend for a while now. As I said, not my bag, I don't have that kind of spare change but do have plenty to keep me busy around home.
You guys have fun and be safe.

last couple years have been terrible for riding. many ppl never even registered sleds. They are making up for it this year and that is probably why the death toll is so high.

I used to ride with a couple ppl that were always out of control. I stopped riding with them. I really did not like wondering if I was going to make it home to see my family again.

Ran across this video. Thought about @Crusarius and how he prolly has been there. Crazy rock climber vehicles. Something called the Hammer days?
