Thanks everyone,

I thought I would share. My younger son drove it, he was coming un glued! All the hard work the three of us put into this and it came out better than I though, kinda hate to use it and bang it up, but we will be careful, not ruthless. But "Ethel" has been taken apart to the last nut, bolt, split it and she's ready for so weekend warrior work.

I painted the winch levers different colors so my sons could get used to it. I have to paint the blade, the wheels and finish the new cage, and paint that. I wanted a new, stronger cage, have to be safe. And paint th cage, I send pics then

Hi all! I have not posted in a while, after all, life has it's twists and turns and finally getting back to Ethel.

I enlisted a great friend in Maxwell the manual machinist. I wasn't getting all the fab work done and need to get the cage finished up, so he is the man. The cage is about done now. Max and I are car guys also, this guy is one hell of a fabricator and overbuilds everything. After all we want it safe and strong. So, the old cage was crap, and rebuilding or making a new one that replaces stock is not safe, really only was stair railing tube with a little wire cloth, so meant for brush, small branches, no ROPS or FOPS.

So new is 2 1/2 square 1/4 wall box and a full set of replaceable wire cloth panels and 2" square 1/4 lib risers and more modern hood. The original was so damaged and smashed, was not worth a concours restoration. This will be a restored , working example of a great project, put to work, taught my sons and something they won't forget.

Is it legal to have boys in the shop?      [just kidding, that's the best thing you could do.]

The new cage is excellent as well.
Need some pics of the ol bone pulling wood! Hopefully with the boys at the controls.
Man I can't imagine getting to rebuild and run an old skidder at that age. I'd be ecstatic. That's awesome.
