Has anyone had any luck using sweet gum for timber framing?

@Magicman has sawn a lot of it this year for a customer who was building college condos.  
Franklin buncher and skidder
JD Processor
Woodmizer LT Super 70 and LT35 sawmill, KD250 kiln, BMS 250 sharpener and setter
Riehl Edger
Woodmaster 725 and 4000 planner and moulder
Enough cows to ensure there is no spare time.

One pith centered timber per log.  I don't even try to get any side lumber.

An old man told me, a long time ago, that he built a chicken coop out of green Sweet Gum.  He said in about a year, the inside was on the outside.

No personal experience.
