The Bahamas took a major beating.  The US will be sending folks to assist.  I'm waiting to hear if I will be deployed there.  There's a chance.  The folks from my task force who had deployed to Jacksonville have now relocated to South Carolina in preparation for impacts there.

Looks like we are in for a direct hit literally in my back yard! I hope it stays as Cat 1, rumour has it it could creep to Cat 2! A lot a chainsaw work this week coming. I think I'm ready. Gas stations are out of fuel, grocery stores have empty isles... people are getting more prepared than they did with huricanne Juan in 2003. Fingers crossed.

Hope the best for you up there. I guess you don't get hurricanes much that way. I wish we didn't here. I understand from neighbors at our trailer at the coast we came out pretty good. The eye of hurricane get us on its edge, very lucky this time. Heading down for clean up today.

Stay safe there Gump, We are on the edge of things (tropical storm warning) here in Yarmouth County with 50mph wind gust now expected to get up to 60 to 80mph along with 5 to 6" of rain. Just 50 miles from me is under hurricane warning.

Xlogger we seem to get a hurricane every three to four years, usually by the time they get here they are down graded to a tropical storm or less but once in a while we get a bad one. Nova Scotia is about 360 miles long so often times it can effect one place a lot more than others.

Made out OK. Eye of the storm passed directly over my woodlot. I was nervous of what I would see once I got in there, especially the cabin and sawmill etc. I didn't have to cut any trees to make it in (main road was already cut out by others). There were a few scattered big fellas blown over but that was it thankfully nothing landed on the cabin, mill or equipment!

Also, my fishing boat blew into the water & I now have a big hole in my haul!! Time for an aluminum one anyway as the fibre glass boat is getting to heavy for me to haul around LOL.

That's a big root gump.  Over near Antigonish we found this one.

lots of trees came down here in the city.

Those big uprooted root balls can be very dangerous so exercise maximum caution.  When cut off the stem, they will flip back into the hole so no children or pets should be around when that is done.  I am all too familiar with these uprooted trees :)

We ended up with more wind than originally predicted, had a few trees blow over and lost a few roof shingles off the workshop. Also lost internet for 4 days because of this tree 2 miles down the road.

and had a long branch break off a tree and land on our camp causing minor damage.

How many hurricanes have y'all in NS ever experienced?

Dorian was one determined storm.

Say when

RAYAR

SE New Brunswick also got a bit of Dorian. Some wind damage, lots of power outages, uprooted trees.

Don't know exactly but the last big one was in 2003, with some smaller ones every few years often times they are down graded to a tropical storm or less by the time they get here or turn out off the coast and head for Newfoundland, we get a winter storm that is almost as much wind most winters.

Those are some healthy root balls for sure!  More like root plates.

We went to Sunset Beach NC on Friday after the storm came through the previous evening / night.  They had more damange from a couple of tornados or straight winds,   Sure was a beautiful week there!
