Had mine since 2007. The older styles was a very simple design. No switches, solenoids, no digital readouts, nothing,but a plain jane OWB. As one member said, put wood in, get wood out. No cleaning, no nothing. I have had mine going almost steady since I owned it. I heat my hot water with it. Might have been shut off for 2 weeks since 2007. The only trouble I had was I had to reweld the round tube to clean out the ashes.
When I was looking at OWB I would see someone outside and ask them about theirs. I learned a lot that way.
I have really never even needed dealer support.

My uncle has had one for 18 years
He has just had back surgery and is looking to sell it. I'm not sure if there is enough life left in it for the price he is asking for it $3000

Have to guess ours at 15 years old.....no major problems, just minor annoyances.
Like the gasket going bad on the vent flapper door, stove boils over, takes out the pump...
Think I've replaced the bladder once, good idea to do the water hoses on the door every couple years.

10 or so years on ours, very trouble free. In fact, all I have replaced is the blower motor, and I just replaced the door gasket. I almost forgot, I had to replace a burner grate as well. I don't know about the newer ones, but mine is very simple, there's not much to go wrong. However, I think your uncle us overpriced on an 18 year old stove. I can't remember for sure, I think ours was $6000 or maybe $7000 new. It's the 200, medium sized model fwiw.

I don't feel that his stove is worth 3K
That being said, I would say a grand tops.
What model is it?
I have a 200css (stainless) and love it.
They are probably the simplest stove going, very easy to maintain and very few things to go wrong with them.

@dave_dj1 it is a 200css I believe

Heatmor 400 and 200.  Both are trouble free.  Installed in 2000 and running strong.  I replace the water hoses on the door every year.  Very simple to maintain.  I keep extra blower unit and pump on hand. Keep the seals and gaskets tight and burn wood and heat.   The 400 keeps farm shop at 75 degrees in the floor and heats very large farm home.  The 200 heats other farm home at brother s.   Never had a service call since installed.
