Great job, I also notice they are designed so they could be flat packed and assembled on sight by screwing the corners together too!

Hmmm maybe have any Swedish heritage?  ;D

Bruno of NH

I have an other flat pack set coming out.
I have the parts cut for them.
Hopefully by the weekend

Looks good. I guess depending on the length of the box the legs could be stored in it during transport and storage and such. Looks like a possible salvage option for short pieces out of the slab pile too. Maybe you could even sell them filled with a "composting kit" and get rid of your fresh sawdust too. :D Let us know how they sell.

That is pretty cool. I noticed a few of my neighbours putting in raised gardens. Yours are ideal for the city people.
How much are you selling them for?

Bruno, what type of bottom do you use? Solid or slats?  And do you use screws or bolts?

I have made a few out of cedar bolted together with slats for the bottom.

Good idea!!
I've been at the hardware store for 4 years. Never seen seeds trays and anything to do with planting veggies selling like it is.
It's a good time to get into planting.

I almost want to steal your idea and capitalize. I have a ton of pine thats been down needing to be cut for a while

I bet the bug holes won;t even matter for that.

thecfarm

Call the bug holes, drainage holes or weep holes.  ;)

Great idea and simple design.  I had a neighbor converting mini crates from a local mfg business into these last few years.  He has sold hundreds.  He lined his with plastic to minimize soil loss out of the bottom.  Key to flat pack design is to make sure longest individual piece will fit into planter box.  You could also create clear dome top with clear plastic and thin bending wood slats to make a mini greenhouse for early planting season.

Bruno, if you don't mind me asking, how seasoned does the stock need to be to build /assemble those planters...?
wife,kids,dog,t-shirts to prove it

doc henderson

for a planter with water and soil contact, I would build these the same day I sawed the lumber!

I built 2 yesterday out of fresh sawn pine. I have a whack of pine logs with worm holes in them
My son has his name on them.
I will take pictures and advertise them on market place this morning. We see if I do as well as Bruno on the orders.

Mine are made of eastern hemlock
Saw and build the same day.
But half of this stock has been on sticks since fall.
I have had some hemlock ones that are 7 or 8 years old .

Wouldn't they have to be built from a rot resistant wood? I would think pine wouldn't last more than a year or two.

If they were made to fit one or multiple plastic tote containers they should last longer.

And then they will have to buy another 2. ;D
