Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.

Be smarter than the sawdust

I'm starting to appreciate the old lineshaft. Skip the electricity and just spin a shaft?
You're not going to believe this .A guy I worked with once with 10 kids and four teeth was going to belt up an Oliver diesel tractor with about 100 HP to a big drill press so he didn't have a big electric bill .It was only 5 HP single phase .He was a journeyman electrician to make things worse .I was just at a loss for words .

More on the above .Good old Ralph bought the Ollie cheap, bad engine .Bought a Massey diesel, also cheap .Spent two years and ton money to make it work .Way more than a good unit to begin with . :D .

Never thought to use the PTO directly on the drill press?  :D

If you had ever met Ralph you'd have figured it out why he thought like he did .Some people have the ability to take a pile of junk and make something out of it .With Ralph it was a pile of junk and it just ended up being another pile of junk when he gave up on it . :D
