Back from the back lot for a new friend--a Pettibone-Mullican Super 8 Carry Lift. Has set for several years (a few) and he'd like to be able to use it once in a while, He bought it used back when he had a timber frame business going, but since his operation went in a different direction, this machine has just set.
Continental M330 gas engine; Allison torque converter which was added after it left the factory; Fuller 5 speed transmission and a transfer case that looks like a New Process. Has reverse in the transfer case like some TJ's. I dunno whose axles. At one time it was 4 wheel steer. Has enclosed u-joints at the wheels like the old Army trucks. They leak oil the same way, too..............
Gas cap was off for who knows how long. He used to have a problem with gas theft. I vacuumed the leaves out of the tank and blew out  the rust/dust. Carb overhaul and new anything that had gas running through it. It had a new tune-up shortly before it was parked; wipe off the plugs and shine up the points, coil was cracked so it's new. Put a new battery in and it started up and runs great. Topped off the oil in the tranny, transfer case, hydraulic tank and axles; engine oil and filter change and it will be good to go when I can get some brakes on it.
It's had a pretty well-used life by the number of places that have been welded over the years. It worked in at least two sawmills in its' earlier years.

Probably would have a lot of stories to tell.

The middle picture is of a different machine. A speed Swing that I saw getting ready for its' last ride to the junkyard.
