Hi
Has anyone used a snowmobile engine on a band mill? Any reason why one wouldn't work?
Thanks for any comments, just thinking.

Torque is King on a sawmill. High RPM engines with lots of HP but low torque would not be as effective when the band hits hard cutting conditions.

Would be a lot of gearing down to deal with that's all I can think of, they must do 7k plus?

How big of a motor are we talking about?  I would think a small snow mobile motor would be a BIG sawmill engine.  Is it 2 or 4 stroke?

Sled engines need to rev to produce power, not ideal for a mill application. Couple that with steady operation under load in a warm environment  it won't last long.
