Looking at a Wagner Orion 910.Has anyone used one? Also how would it compare to a Delmhorst J2000 with a es26. I do understand the 910 is pinless and the J2000 is pin type other than that how do they compare. I am not sure of the 910 depth ability 3/4" to 1 1/2" range or one or the other.

No one used the wagner 910?

Maybe @doc henderson has, I know he has a Wagner pinless.
What I know of the wagner is that it will be very good for stock that is not too thick and that has an evenly distributed moisture percentage.  For me, I bought the delmhorst with hammer probe to be able to know what the moisture is at the surface and at the core of thick lumber.  I don't believe the pinless will give you any indication that there is a gradient.

the newer ones are more expensive.  I have a 210 that was a few hundred bucks.  the new one is I think a 950, and can do variable depth.  the pin meters are great for a kiln.  for a solar kiln, or air drying, I love a pin-less as it does not make holes and it is easy to use.   I thought @firefighter ontheside was calling me a wagoner princess.  lol .  the 910 should be good as the newer technology, the higher number lets you record many number and develop an average MC.  My old one maxes out at 32%, and is good down to about 5%. to be honest, I have played a little with my new one, but it is not even dusty yet.

ok, it is the MMC 220 not available now.  the orion 950 has some features not on the 910 such as 1/4 inch and 3/4 inch.  some averages ect.  I tried to add a table, but is available at the website, and if you look it up on amazon.  539 bucks

My old pinless meter requires the wood to be smooth to give accurate readings so rough lumber has to be hand planed in the spot you want to check. Newer ones may not require this. Might be something to check into before spending big money.

The Wagner site states the depth range on the 910 to be 3/4" and 1 1/2" unless I am reading something wrong. Also if the 3/4"  and 1 1/2 are correct are they as a range or 2 separate settings. Maybe someone could look at Wager's site and see if I am missing something and just what the 910 can do. Thanks

When I look at the Wagner site, I see that the 910 is called the deep scan and scans down to 3/4".  If you scan both sides of a piece of wood that is 1 1/2" then you can measure a piece up to 1 1/2".  The 920 scanner says it is dual depth.  In normal mode it scans 1/4" which is probably adequate for 3/4" material.  If you put the 920 into deep depth mode, it then scans down to 3/4".  The 920 is $50 more for this dual depth ability.  Hope this helps.

the pinless tend to take and average, but on a 4/4 board with pins you can measure the core or the surface.  if insulated pins, and depending on the depth.  pinless is looking at the density so needs to be calibrated (set) for species (specific gravity of the wood) so it can then account for this and tell you the MC.  so for a 6/4 measured at 3/4 is core, and at 1/4 inch is average MC.  I got the most expensive, but sadly I may not use all the bells and whistles.  if the 220 was available I would of got another one, but they are not.  @GeneWengert-WoodDoc .   :)

I have carpenters that come and buy wood from me. They use the wagner 910, swear by it. They always read properly at my place as all my wood is 6-8% When I looked into having one along with my Delmhorst I found what firefighter  found. It is really only good for 6/4.
If you have 8/4 and thicker you need a delmhorst with the hammer.
