If a carpetbagger is a northerner who moves down south, what is a southern who moves up north?

A missionary? We're taught early in school not to do that. Some take it upon themselves to save the lost souls of the northern aggressors. The eventually give up and come home.

My wife and I moved from Long Island (a great place to grow up in the 50's) to Virginia 16 years ago. We tell people we have found a way to get to heaven without dying first. So my answer to your question is--- Crazy!!! :

Well, I was born in Fort Pierce, Florida in 1944. I lived there until 1972 when the company I worked for transfered me to Rochester, Minnesota. Actually, there got to be so many Yankees in Florida that I figured none could be left up North......so to get away from them......I moved up North. Well, I was wrong! There is as many Yankees up here as there was in Florida. DanG they must really propagate!!! As for grits.......I always bring back a good supply of good grits after a visit down South. If I run out, I can buy Quaker Grits up here.

My wife and I were coming back from a trip to Italy in 2002 and were standing in line at the Newark, New Jersey airport. A couple of women were talking and one asked the other where she was from....that woman, in a New Jersey or Bronx, New York accent replied, "I'm a Floridian." Geeeeeeeeeeeez I laughed. She may live in Florida but she'll never be a Floridian just like I was never a Minnesotan nor will I ever be a Wisconsonite.

Why am I still up here after I retired? Well, Donna is still working and my children and grandchildren live up here. So I'm staying close to them so they won't lose their Southern roots.
