Just a small one day job. 2013bf out of these a few more small ones he decided to drag up.

I told customer to store logs upside down so most of the dirt would fall off by the time I got there to saw

Wow....what kind of velcro do you use for storing logs upside down like that? :D :D :D :D

110 miles round trip. These are starting pictures. No completed pictures because it was pitch dark when we finished. One of my helpers had to shine a light on the scale so I could see my settings. 2351 bf, lots of 16' logs. RO, WO, Hemlock and Tulip poplar. I had 3 men helping and all of use were worn out by the end of the job. I sawed for this customer almost 2 years ago and I remember we finished in the dark then too. 12 hours on site and 10 engine hours on the mill - which is a lot for those of you who track such things.

One more good sized job at 2 sites in backlog and I'll be caught up if nobody else calls with their stuff ready.

My trip yesterday was pretty memorable. I crossed the Western Hemisphere's longest single arch bridge twice, passed the 38th Parallel Korean war memorial sign, passed the big boy scout site which hosts international scout jamborees with scouts from all over the world then had Woodrow Wilson as my helper all day.

I had a very successful morning which started with this..

36" butt log and was followed by two more almost equals.  2197 bf sawed in 6 hours using 3 blades.  Rain shut us down leaving 8 logs unsawn.  The customer will be on vacation next week so I will return on or after the 11th to finish him up.

Hopefully PatD and I can return to the Cabin and resume our work there next week.

Never say never.  I had no intention of sawing for the next couple of weeks.  The sawmill is parked at my customer's location but is visible from the road.  Well a neighbor called asking if I could saw a few logs for him if he delivered them so away I went this morning.

I didn't scale it but it was not much less than one Mbf so not too shabby for a minimum sawing rate job.  ;D

I like those minimum rate jobs where the customer just wants a couple of logs sawed and after an easy 2-3 hours we are done. I had one Monday. Keep up the good work.

Since I'm still not sure how long I will have the mill, I decided to enjoy sometime outside and get a few things taken care of. First is some cedar cants from where I made an arbor for a friends sons wedding. The plan is to make a blanket chest out of the wood. wound up with 15-1x6x8'

Next was a really pretty spalted ambrosia maple cant that I was able to process 29 pepper grinder blanks.

I love sawing cedar.  Great smell. light to handle.  ANd always interesting grain pattern.   Those are some good looking all red boards.   Should make a fine blanket chest !

Haven't posted here in awhile.  Today I did a demo day at a local farm festival.  Two weeks ago I was at the same farm but my feed motor died.  So today I more or less had to double up on what we agreed on for the two days.

Sawed part of these up Tuesday of last week and finished them Friday.  Plus 2 more logs. Cedar turned out a lot better than I thought it was from the looks on the end of logs.  3240bf.  Had a flat on mill on the way home friday night then missed a turn causing me to drive 24 miles out of the way . O well it  could have been worse.  :)

Thanks to Yellowhammer & his pics, tried some RRQS on a 12' dead oak.  Mostly manual LT 40, but managed.  Have next 12'er x 16" on the deck ready to go.  Ray fleck throughout....Thanks YH. 8)All the best, Rob.

Definitely takes time on a manual mill.  I've done it on the LT15.  Nice results though.
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

My BIL had this mulberry compromising his fence. I went to take it down for him and though it might be fun to cut. This is the longest log I was able to get (8') the rest are 6 footers. First time cutting mulberry for myself. Im interested to see how it dries.

Started sawing this big oak today for a customer.  (Pin oak I believe). He got this and a couple of walnut logs free from someone's yard.  Just about too big for my mill.... the blade's all the way up in the pic.
I need more horsepower!  Those wide cuts work it hard and it cuts slow.
Didn't get quite done when the ignition switch gave out on the mill.  It's been a little finicky for a while but now it won't power the carriage and if you wiggle the key it engages the starter in both the run position and the accesory position.
