Well we are at 28F this morning chums, first morning that I expect a thin crust on top in any open field or garden. Won't be froze in the woods. fire_smiley

28 here this morning.  They fired up the snow guns for a while last night and created a few flurries on the ski slopes where I work.  Looks like the start of another long winter. :snowball:  Not as much fun as it used to be.  Guess I'm getting too old for snow sports.  I find sitting by the wood stove and looking out the window at the snow piling up becoming more desirable as times goes by.

First real frost overnight and this morning. Was 25 when I got up and 31 now. Glad to see the shop was a nice 62° when I went out to find a good bed of coals in the stove to restart up. Good solid frost on the grass, plants and 'stuff'. Mosquito season, I hope, is finally over. 8)

In a winter thaw, if I was around the barn the mosquitoes would appear to jab their blood sucking parts into ya. :D

Snow pellets overnight, little round white balls covering everything lightly.
Burning wood mornings now. Sunny and brisk on tap for the foreseeable future.
Skidding firewood with a kubota L3300.

Just glad the buggers got zapped frozen from the frost. Good grief those house flys were out of control this late summer/fall. Constantly felt like a garbage man

Was 30F this morning and this afternoon the first flurries of winter for about 5 minutes. ;D Not even 40F here, but warming trend for a couple days out.

Looks like our annual 1 week of "heater on the way to work and AC on the way home" is over for this year.  My favorite week of the year.  Although I enjoy winter over a humid summer.  I can always put more clothes on but there is only so much you can take off without getting in trouble. ;)

Yeah it's been nice weather to be outdoors. Gotta remember to drink water,
Never feel thirsty or sweat, so I put it off sometimes

Always have my water thermos near by. I just bought a new one this fall. It keeps ice for hours. My old one was not insulated and quickly would melt. These are the SS ones that fit in your cup holder. Good for summer to tuck in my cruiser vest in the heat of the summer, refill at the truck. Doing firewood, I keep it on the SxS or in the truck, which ever I'm working with. ;D

Been hanging in the mid 20's the last couple of nights, tonite and tomorrow night too. None of the water stuff is freezing up .... yet. This is good because I keep forgetting to drain stuff. Today was nice with little wind so I got out and cut up a little slab wood to burn up in the shop. If we don't get hard freeze problems in the next 2 nights, we should have it warming up just a little bit early in the week and I get more time to procrastinate. ;D

Well, maybe just a little, but skim ice on a 53 gal. barrel is not really a problem. However, I did empty the 3 over flow barrels yesterday so so could put down crushed stone and cover with dirt to level that tank area a little. Seems like I am walking in water all summer, maybe this will help. Should warm a little this week so I can take a rest day and do some of the other work too. I will leave that tank as long as I can.

At 5am (or 4am old time) the temp was at 27 and still going down. Nice sunny day yesterday and great for work, or sitting in the woods, but we picked work. It might break 50 today and even a little higher tomorrow! All I really care is we will have pretty clear skies, no clouds or rain. That improves my mood regardless of the temps and the solar value is welcome in the shop.
 Time to get at it!

Heading up to the woodlot this sunny morning and I see a little bush move along the bank of the creek which is pretty much the ditch of the road. I thought it must be a duck. Nope, I drive up close and look down and a grouse was climbing out of the water and hanging onto an alder. Nice cold morning bath to begin his day. :D

30F here this morning. Incredible sunshine. ;D

Must of been in the 60's today. I was at work and unloaded a truck. I was driving a forklift, so was not working, but was wearing a t shirt and nice and warm.

A high of 48 Sunday, 58 Monday, and 61 today with clear skies and little wind made for some might pretty work days. Working in a t-shirt again today, but once the sun went behind the cliff I got my shirt back on pretty quick. Kinda weird, the sun beating on my neck and I am uncomfortable in a shirt, take that sun away and I need the shirt, and maybe a jacket.
Forecast for tomorrow is 58 again with cloud cover in the morning so we shall see. Al I know i, I have seen worse weather by far. I can take this for quite a while. The long term forecasts say we are gonna get hammered with snow this year. Lets see how it plays out, I won't believe them until I have to plow it.

We had sun most of yesterday, but we got to about 54F up here. Got the rest of the firewood in and had to repair the barn roof with a piece of steel from my barn steel stash. I'm no roofer, that takes good knees. Mine were stinging by the time I was done. :D Sun in your eyes all day up here now, so much lower in the sky now. Still not down in the SW corner at night yet, another 6 weeks for that. Right now directly west and in my face at supper time. ;D

It's these annoying bushes for now, mostly why I got it, can't even walk through this stuff.

Looks like quite the brush thicket there. Is it leather leaf? Can't really make it out.

43F here this afternoon and the sky cleared. No rain this time I guess. ;D

Saw two grouse on the woodlot walk about. Some bear tracks, on the moose trails. ;D Saw a deer in a nearby field and seen a coyote 1/2 mile from house crossing the road into the cedars, and he was moving swiftly. ;D

Saw 12 turkeys yesterday in a field not far away. :)
