I've got no idea where to start with this one, haven't seen it before. Had a nasty wind storm come through early this morning and have trees down all over the place.

I don't even know if it's native NZ or exotic.

Not that I recall but I wasn't paying close attention. Snapped the photo on my way past driving. Good guess I see why you'd ask, looking at the leaf shape. I'll have another look

Weekend warrior, Peterson JP test pilot, Dolmar 7900 and Stihl MS310 saws and  the usual collection of power tools :)

Yep, I'd go with that I think you're right again Ian. Cool, will grab it and see how it saws.

Never used it, but from what I can see it's a useful medium density hardwood. Can be used for furniture etc.  :)

I'll post a photo if I end up with it. I read the logs are quite often hollow
