Sorry all I can get a picture of this time of year is the bark. Anyone able to id this tree? Someone said Chestnut but I am doubtful

More info. A neighbor had a logger in that targeted these trees. When cut the stumps were turning dark brown and the sap was baby oil like feeling

WO is it.
FWIW, I had one largeish White Oak fall in my farm pond while in FL for 6 weeks. It was the remnant of a twin tree that the first half had fallen ~ 3-4 years ago. Took of the corner of my shop roof too! The pond one when I cut it loose from the butt and had it squeezed tight in a log chain, showed red sap coming from the bark under that pressure. I have no idea if it felt like "baby oil"? :D

Some sort of disease? had attacked that tree as it had broken away from it's root system when it fell. Last fall, at the base of the tree, one of the largest fungi I've ever seen of any kind came up from the ground. It was about 12" high and yellow tone with a flower like cur shape. The wood looks normal in both this part and the previous one which I sawed into lumber-excepting that it shows some black in the center of the butt only (not the 1st log I cut) as if there's wire inside?

Sure sounds like a fungal infection got it.  Fungi have to make a living too.  Wounds are a common point of entry.
