Maine Cabin Masters Sawmill?

Tammy and I had a chance to go see the Maine Cabin Masters at the Mount Pleasant Home Builders show. I had no intentions of doing any video that day as we just went because we really like  the T.V. show. Turns out though, we had 4 short chunks of video clips from our cellphones between us, and they were just all bad. However, I found a way to put them together to at least share Chase and Ryan's answers to the 2 questions that I was able to ask them..

Can you use rough sawn lumber for framing?
I kinda put a lot of time in 4 crappy clips that had to be zoomed and turned and audio enhanced to make em usable. It was fun, cause I got to sneak our U.P. Cabin into the video! :D

It's been like a run away diesel engine here.  Might be able to grab a sandwich for lunch around 4:00 PM, then get in for the night by 11:00 when I am lucky.  Need to figure out how to clone myself.

My wife mentions how much we need them every show.  Then I remind her they work about 250 miles south of our little cabin.  They would be wonderful to work with.  The budgets have doubled since the show started.   Some quotes are bargains for the work they do.   Are they counting their labor?

They explaines that that is the cost to the cabin owners. Chase actually does have a big barn that they salvage stuff from one job to another that helps. They also get sponsor stuff. I wish I could have recorded the entire show. Im not able to remember all the details, but I came away thinking these guys are us.

OK, OK, you guys kind of got me hooked and I went looking for the show. Turns out I can watch it free on demand through my cable service but only back to part of season 4, so I started there. It's not bad and seems to lack a lot of nonsense on the other shows. Only 2 episodes in, but I will keep watching as time permits.

Ryan was telling us that the production people early on were looking for "moments" Things that bring viewers back from commercials. He said, paraphrasing, that it didn't take long for the producers to realize that there was always plenty of that stuff occuring naturally because they are all friends and family, even off work, that the chemistry on the show never needs tampering with.

I forget how many hundreds of hours they said they shoot via all the cameras to end up wth just one show.

That's when dad walked in the door around 1976 and said to mother, 'I need to get rid of those cows, I can't keep working 24 hrs a day'.  He decided to stick with growing/selling potatoes and cutting wood for the next 30 years. :D :D

It takes a special person/skillset to look at a rodent infested, dilapidated, run down cabin and see a "diamond in the rough". They DO honor the traditions and wishes of the cabin owners, to the best of their abilities, which I respect. They all pitch in wherever needed to get the job done....fun to watch! Dixie and Jedi are the secret weapons, they do it all....

I enjoy Maine Cabin Masters. It is pretty easy to tell when a director is putting them up to something like throwing hammers through windows.  They are mostly down to earth and do nice work.  My wife gets tired of me saying we need a cabin like that every time I watch an episode.

I don't even know what that means, so likely I could not actually do it, whatever it is. If it's a bad thing, I'm sorry, but I don't think that could really happen.
As far as this show goes, I have watched a handful of episodes. I think the reason I am enjoying it is because A) there is no drama and I can identify with the work they do, and 2) These camps they work on are simple construction, mostly on short piers with very basic construction techniques. Most are hard to access and few are covered under strict building codes within a district. So the rule is make it right, make it safe, make it work, and make it last. I like that logic. I could build a camp like these, but they wouldn't look as good as what these folks do. So yeah, I like the show. They've found a great business niche and seem to enjoy their work.

Their Headquarters are about 75 miles from me, but I hate to say, I've never watched an episode.
Judging by the feedback here, I guess I probably should start. I have friends that went to school with a couple of them, and claim that they are just good, down to earth normal guys.
