I would say someone simply made some money. My 35 would be down the road in a minute if I thought I could get $35K for it.

Down here there are many more people offering wood for sale.   Lots of slabs, all green.  Everyone thinks that they can buy a sawmill and make money.  Wait till that green slab inventory builds up and there is no space in the backyard to stack or store them.   Oh, but sawing is fun  :).

I am pretty easygoing and willing to share and help people.  But, that can come back to bite you. There have been several people that told me one thing but did another after I shared my hard won experience and best practices with them so that in essence what I did was help set up a competitor that now undercuts me.

Now everybody and their brother has a sawmill around here selling green slabs cheap.  We will see how long that lasts.
When I was contacting, I called it training the competition.
I out lasted most of them and some always came back to work as subcontractors.
The sawmill is lots of work most aren't cut out for it.

Yeah most don't have a clue of the physical work involved with a sawmill if they haven't worked around one before.

Based on entries 29, 30, &31, and if my stinking thinking is correct.
[(3.49/0.99) -1] (12/13) = 2.331 or inflation of 233%+ per year.
Guvamint is saying 8.5%.

It was hydraulic, and looked like all the options, including debarker, a bunch of blades, and a pretty long list of other stuff.  I'm not sure it was over retail.  Pictures of everything looked new.  Maybe he was one of the first that realized it was a good time to move it.

I wonder how many of these we'll see until the prices start to come down.

Magicman

Well, Sawmill Exchange has gone almost 2 years without any used sawmills for sale.  Gotta have sawmills listed before they can make a sales commission.

Sad.  I bought my sawmill through Sawmill Exchange 20 years ago.   :-X

I keep hearing about all the amazing deals out there. Now let's back it up and hear about the amazingly cheap deal you got on a Woodmizer LT 70 or Timberking 2220. I'll have my popcorn waiting and watching 😂
