I am having problems with my slide hammer , the cable connection where it connects to the meter.
I talked with Delmhorst and my meter tests out good.
I have taken apart where the cable connects. The cable is a rg59
What should I be doing to make this work

Delmhorst recommends I order a new slide hammer as it's cheaper than shipping/repairing.

That's a PL59 connector and it's pretty easy to install, just gotta know the procedure. Here's a video that should help - one of 22,567 on that subject. lol

Certainly no need to buy a new slude hammer or spend money on shipping. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself probably one of your friends will be!

Add: it might be easier to start with a new connector instead of trying to clean the solder out of the old one.

Excellent video but with one minor item to point out.  He was measuring to verify that there was no continuity between the center conductor and ground.  You should actually see the probe.

Thanks btulloh, Looks. simple enough, I have ordered a new connector and now of course a soldering iron. I'll let you know the outcome.

I have soldered hundreds of these in my ham radio career. If you purchase the more expensive silver plated connectors your life will get a lot easier. Be careful not to over heat the body or the dielectric can melt and you will have to start over with a new connector. These are rarely fun to to, but after you do about 30 of them. it's not so bad. ;D

OK, maybe I'm the woodcutter now.
I work with wood, There is a rumor I might be a woodworker.

I had good results soldering wires to the hammer probe on my Protimeter moisture meter.
Good luck to you, too.

When you receive your new connector, cut off a couple of inches of cable and start with a fresh end.

I soldered on a new connector, cut off 2" of the old cable. I checked with the ohm meter, and showed 0. The probe did not work. I did the test .holding my fingers across the pins and get -5.6
It should read around the 18 for our human hands.  I believe the problem is in the hammer now. I will try to take that part on Monday.
I had Delmhorst send me a new hammer as I really can not do with out a meter when wood is coming out of the kiln every week.
