I love that: "This shop does not exist, but it doesn't matter, nobody who is watching this video is going to show up here." I laughed and laughed.  :D You never know buddy! It's my turn to bring up a 6 pack, is it not? ;D (And I am well armed too.)

Well, you're certainly on the exception list, and a reciprocal visit is welcome. Just don't show up with beer in one hand and that ryobi in the other.  :D
I'll tell the rest of that story if anyone is interested.  :)

DANG! you beat me to it! I was going to do just that to see the look on your face! ;D :D I have not yet touched that thing either since my first look over, but it's cluttering up the bench so I gotta do something.

Yup, I figured that was gonna be in the plan. Bring it up anyway and we'll treat it as a joke project to tinker on. If we get it running, at least the story will run for another chapter or 2. Muffler mod, gasket delete.

And our story began 1 Monday morning when we found this junk ryobi gas saw in front of our door. No note about the saw or contact info. I HATE when people do that. In their own altruistic minds they think that anonymous drop offs of dead junk at the shop is a good deed of some kind. Truth is they are using our property as a dumping ground. So, I just left it there hoping someone would steal it. After a couple days, and no action, I figured I'd move it out to the curb and someone would grab it.

Sure enough someone did. None other than the Bill that we both know and Tom has mentioned countless times in his thread. I didn't see who grabbed it, just noticed it was out of my life. Well, I go down to Tom's shop for beer and hang out one afternoon, and there it is sitting on his bench! Billy knew not to try and get me to work on it. Unless this is part of some scheme he hatched in his very creative mind. So, here we are a month or more later and this junk saw really isn't out of my life, is it?  ::)

I can fill in some other pieces of this story in np particular order:
I am working at Bills and at the end of the day we crossed paths and he said "Oh Hey, in the back of the dump truck is a saw I got, grab that and take it back to your shop for a fix it project. I know Bill likes to keep any old saws laying around various parts of the property so he doesn't have to walk far to grab one. A grabbed the saw on the way out and was not too thrilled that it's a big box Ryobi homeowner throw way special. I felt like this was a waste of my time, but one evening I opened and could see that somebody 'worked' on it. Covers screw not fully in, etc. The saw a a string cable as part of the throttle and that cable was incorrectly run so it would never work as is. I fixed that, smelled the tank, put a little fuel in, but no joy. It wasn't getting fuel, so I shot a little ether in the carb (because I really don't care) and when I yanked the cord it nearly ripping my first 3 fingers off with a kick back. Repeated the process and experienced similar pain. Decided it needs a carb job, dinner was ready, I set it back on the bench. Haven't touched it since.
Then Spike comes by and sees the saw, so you know that part of the story. I got curious and a few days later I asked Bill "exactly where did you get this saw?" So it turns out one of Bill's favorite 'during the work day' deli's is directly across the road from Spike's shop. He stopped there to get lunch and when he was climbing back in the truck he spotted the saw sitting on the curb. Bill will never let anything go to waste if he can help it and KNEW there was no way Bob wanted ANYTHING to do with this saw, so he threw it in the back of the dump truck figuring I need winter work and he might leave this one at the mill for trimming slabs or something. Now y'all know everything we know, and the saga continues. :D

We have no idea whop left the saw, but I am guessing it wasn't one of Spike's regular clients, unless as a joke. I could see somebody doing that, then calling him up later and saying " hey, I left my best prosaw by your door and I need it, can you fit in in your schedule?"  :D :D I might do something like that, Bill would too, or worse. ;D ;D
