Has anyone bought or tried a battery powered walk behind self propelled lawn mower. My old lawn boy is about worn out and I like the idea of no oil or gas.I can mow a lot of my place with a riding mower but I have quite a bit of hillside that I have to use a walk behind. The electric mowers seem to be pretty expensive but might be worth it if they held up good.Doesn't seem like they make any well built gas models anymore. My brother had a Husqvarna he really liked and I went to get one and store said they quit making them.

Up this way they still sell gas push mowers, the W520. You probably looked at the W520i. No difference in price here, CDN$1699. Awfully pricey for a push mower, but must be built solid for that money. I suppose to because of self propelled.

Their largest riding/tractor lawn mower, TS354XD is CDN$6500. They have zero turn as well. Local dealer here sells all kinds of mowers and has had wear parts and filters all stocked. They seem to be using a lot of aluminum on tractor lawn mowers.

Home Depot has Milwaukee mowers. They use two 12ah batteries. $1,000.00 for the package. The batteries alone are $250.00+ each.

I threw an entire much cussed kohler block in the aluminum furnace, rather satisfying :D.

We redid a bridge for a lady a couple of years ago, she had a robot Husky mower. It looked like a cross between a tiny walk behind mower deck and a ladybug  :D. It knew where its docking station was and it would charge, undock, wander around seemingly at random inside the buried wire quietly mowing and then would wander back to the docking station and recharge.

I see those bot mowers available here also. I don't know of anyone with one. Limited market for such stuff here. They tried to indoctrinate us on battery powered clearing saws. Might as well talk to the wall, ain't happening. :D A limber/branch trimmer no problem. But even those are order only, never stocked around here. ;D

I've run a 26 HP Kohler on my mower now for 15 years. Don't see that changing for years yet.

I have a Honda from home depot and it works great. Honda along with many other small engine manufacturers are shutting  down their small lawnmower engines this year. Starting yext year all engines sold the USA must meet the tier 4 environmental standards  that will make them troublesome and expensive.  The gas machine ban starts soon in California and NY is talking about banning  them after  2025. I actually just bought a big zero turn mower for that reason. I don't want to spend almost 25k on a electric zero turn so I grabbed the Kubota Z726 with a kawasaki engine before thet are gone.

Looks like all the manufacturers are going with batteries already.

I thought about getting one of those smart mowers but I figured if it was very smart it would look around up here and leave

Thanks Corley5 for info on Milwaukee mower.I had no idea they made a mower.A lot of money but looks like it might be a pretty good one. I'm tired of breathing blue smoke every time I lean my old mower a little to much when going around side of hill.

I think I'd rather have a goat or two vs doing the lawn with an electric mower

I have a lot of M18 tools, but this won't be one I add to the list.  To Granites point many times I have brought up 10 or so cows, let them onto the lawn for 20 minutes, then move them back off, usually don't have to pickup anything in such a short time and they get the lawn amazingly clean and even.  Maybe I can start a new "green" mowing service.  :D

Only if you put fart catchers on the cows. Otherwise it causes more environmental damage then a 2 stroke Lawn Boy  :D

I just saw a Greenworks on sale this month at Costco for about  $500 with 2 80 volt batteries.

The cost of batteries and the weight are deal breakers for me. I would have a 2 stroke Lawnboy if they were still available, loved those mowers.

Did a little research and found out only one rear wheel pulls on Milwaukee mower.Don't think I'll be buying one.Probably buy another gas unit before a bunch more pollution stuff gets put on them.Need both wheels to pull where I mow.

This got my curiosity up yesterday, so I went Googling for battery mowers.   Toro has quite a selection, and Snapper has nice ones too.  Snapper is using a pretty big 80+V battery.

Southside, is it pre emissions?

Best mower ever made; especially for the steep places.

And they look much better. Nice looking cows!
