My wife saw the Fisher Cat yesterday heading down to the Stream.  The Bluejays call made her look that direction.

Haven't seen a moose for awhile at the woodlot and have not seen a deer all summer around here.

   I see in our WV trapping regs we have an annual bag limit of one fisher. I have never seen one so I assume they are up in the northern part of the state. Then again, I saw my first weasel (A long tailed weasel) on my way back from a fishing trip to our local COE lake last year and I had been in WV 32 years then with a lot of time in the woods and along the lake before I saw that one just crossing the road in front of me. There are lots of animals I have seen here  that others never do but are actually fairly common.

We had a couple of River Otters show up yesterday.  There was an alligator here and one Otter I presume the Momma was warning her young about it, making loud clicking sounds. She stopped while I started to video.  River otters must be from the same church as Fisher Cats just a different pew.

Can't recall seeing more than a couple live fisher over the years. I've seen furs at mom's uncle's and stuffed ones in museums. River otter are quite common around here.

   Otters are common here. Last time we went out in the boat earlier this month we saw a family of 4 of them leave the lake and head up into the woods. They often chirp like birds and can be real playful. Mus slides on bank are common and they will slide down swim out and run tot he top and repeat many times.

   They steal a catfish or two off my lines almost every trip now but I can't blame them for doing what comes naturally.

   Fishers and otters are all in the weasel family.

   I think that is an insult to a whole class of innocent fur-bearing animals. ;) :D :D
