Hi everyone, I just bought a cat 320dfm with a waratah 622b head.  I am pretty green on the machine and all I have is excavator experience. I am having trouble getting the timbermatic monitor to turn on? What's the deal? I thought it should turn on when I turn the main key to auto.  I looked everywhere for a switch but don't see anything.

Here is the operating manual Operator's Manual View

timbermatic 300 control and measuring system ver2.4.4-

QuoteStart the HPC07 computer up by a switch on a dashboard (1). The Timbermatic™ system is switched on by double-clicking on the system start-up icon with the cursor, "Timbermatic 300 Start".

During start-up the cursor can be moved using the mouse or the right-hand side boom control lever and the head open button (Z+).

The Timbermatic™ system always starts in run mode. To switch to setting mode use the (Stop) button. Hold the button down for a few seconds until the display opens in setting mode for the measuring system and the harvester head and also the main menu of the setting mode. Setting mode can also be opened from the PC keyboard by pressing Ctrl+A.

Return to run mode by pressing F2 or Ctrl+R on the PC keyboard or the (Fn) and (F2) buttons simultaneously on the left control keypad.

If there are problems with start-up, see troubleshooting, section 101.

I guess it is just a computer running WIndows mounted in there, wish I knew more about it. This guy fixed whatever was wrong with this one, he seems to press upper left button on the timbermatic screen to power it up John Deere F627578 HPC06 Win2000 Timbermatic 300 TMC recovery repair - YouTube  it looks like the person that made this video and some people in the comments know a lot about fixing them! It shows he is feeding it 24v from a benchtop power supply so yours must be getting that from somewhere, you might have to trace the wires to it to see what is feeding it power (switch/relay somewhere?). A lot of the videos are in languages I don't speak, sorry cannot help more.

Yea I have seen that video to.  That one looks to be newer then mine...I only have a brightness adjust button on mine. I have traced the single cable back to the top of cab but then I loose it somewhere by the radio. Thanks anyways...I'll just keep working at it.

Axis Forestry's generation 5 processor head control system removes quite a few of the old system components, when retrofitted to a processor head.

Fairly intuitive, this operator's first day, so it looks clunky.
I would like to see where the operator is at now. Cat 538, 722 head (waratah rebuilt) and gen 6 controls.
