Hey there Kype,
welcome to the forum, and to Canada. I also have a mill setup very near Vancouver BC, on Bowen Island, about a half hour drive and half hour ferry away. Plus, I'm a McDougall to boot! I'd be glad to get together and swap sawdust stories with ya.

Yesterday I was having a frustrating day out back at the mill.I wanted to saw out the rest of the rafters for the mill/resaw shack but the log I loaded on the mill had some beautiful clears in it but the mill ran out of fuel, couldn't get it running again and had broken the pull cord trying.

The inside door handle on my truck broke off and I was wondering how much GM would hose us for a new one.As I was packing up the saws and tools,I could see a shiny Red car coming out through the field.

A man with a Scottish accent got out and introduced himself.Kenny(KYPE) and Claire are over here in BC and I got a e-mail from Kenny a week or so ago while they were in 100 Mile House.I sent a e-mail back telling him they were 12 miles from D&L Doublecut but they didn't get the message until they were out near Alberta.
Kenny had tried to call on the phone but we were all out so Kenny found the local saw shop and asked where I lived and got directions (smart eh?)  :D

We had a really good visit and I wished they could have stayed another day but they are heading over to Vancouver Island for another week.

Kenny has been in the forest industry for 20 years and has a lot of interesting stories that I hope he will post here when they get back.Claire is a very nice lady and shares Kenny's interest in forestry and milling.

Claire and Kenny with my daughter Mary between them.Mary took a real shine to both of them :)

Have a safe trip!

Is it fashionable to sit outside on the front steps in your sock feet ??? OR, did the wife threaten any one who dares walk across her newly waxed floors today? ;D

A few days ago I told Annika I want to go to Norway and look for a brand new TK 1600.  She told me she want a dog.  ::) We´re also talking about other cars and heat pumps for the house and the work shop.
This year can be expensive if I don´t keep qiet.  :D Haven´t told her I sent an e-mail to

http://www.timberking.no/index.htm

Bothy_Loon, Let´s go to Norway for "fishing".  No one can blame us for stop by the road and look at a sawmill standing there.  ;)

Just looking.......... ;D Think I can update a TK 1600 with all bells and whistles anyone need in my workshop. I want the big engine on mine.

Looks like you have to mill more of that blow down timber and possibly add a new off bearer to keep her mind off ways to spend all your wealth. :D ;D

Have not been to Norway for about 2 years now so we could go fishing for sawmills!
Visited Sweden about 4 years ago to go to Elmia. We stayed in a town called Boras (forgive me if I spelled it wrong ) The people were very friendly & we were made very welcome.
You live anywhere near to this area?

Swampy, Thats right, I have to saw much more and my sawmill works good enough.
Want to have the money before I buy a new saw mill. As before buying cars, heath pumps and dogs. Nothing is better than cach-and-carry. :) Hope I never have to go to the bank and take my cap off again. At this time in life you don´t need more loans.

Bothy, I´ve never been in Norway, found the reason just a couple months ago. The TK 1600............... ;D Think I can wait one more year.
I live c:a 100 miles south of ELMIA. 18 miles east of Växjö.
Think it was 2 years ago I visited ELMIA. Looked at an orange saw mill most of the day.  ;)

When I was at Elmia I spent most of the time looking at a blue one. Liamet but they good folks on the stand must have known I was a mean Scotsman as they never came to talk to me!
We may well meet up in Norway. Wonderful country. It will depend on how my wife is keeping if we can get to Norway. The chance to look over a Timberking is a strong pull though.
Where in Norway are they based?
Bothy Loon

Swede

Boty; Laimet is a very nice sawmill! Hope they showed the loghandler there. It´s hydraulic, pulls in the log on the table, rotate it. A friend of mine some miles from here has one.

Talking about mean and pulling.......... mean people says a Smålänning and a Scotsman found up how to make copper wire. They found a coin at the street in the same moment, took it up and started to pull. :D :D

Looked at a Norwegian map but couldn´t find the TK place. Must be in the south, no freight cost to south of Norway.

Liked the story about copper wire. Seems to have given Swampdonkey something to laugh at as well.
Is that not what life is about? Too many glum faces these days & not enough " Characters" eh!
