Recently, I traveled to Arkansas to teach a class to a great group of students.
The project was the 16'x42' cabin design shown in post #82 on the services section of this forum.

Here are some photos of the project.

Above is a real estate agent (on the left) and a retired chiropractor, both using a helpful tool to layout joints on their timbers.






And one bent assembled to learn how to test fit joints:



And this was my first time working with Bald cypress.

Well, Jim, that's a really good choice of wood to teach timber framing.
Even though you're working with a bunch of student/rookies, you won't run into any hairy situations. 😋

Looks good.  I was thinking that was cypress when I was looking at the pictures but not exactly the wood I expected to see, given your location.  You had a nice place to work as well.  Where do all of these clean shops I keep seeing exist?  I would have a yard full of plunder, and it would take me at least a month of daily cleaning to get my shop up to snuff for you to host a class.
