What is ur best advice for a new sawmill owner ???

A really good canthock, Leafblower und a big chainsaw like min.440 better a 660.

Logrite makes the best cant hooks. Not sure if they're available in Germany or not, but I'm pretty sure you can find some good power equipment with the name Stihl on it! Good luck!

   Read all the Sawmills and Milling posts on the Forestry Forum. Go visit others milling logs and observe and ask questions.

Best advice?  

Don't quit your day job.

Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.

Be smarter than the sawdust

Just dive in and start cutting.  Yes you will make some mistakes but hopefully you will learn from them. There is no substitute for on the job training.
Change is hard....
Especially when a jar full of it falls off the top shelf and hits your head!
