You probably said it as a joke but you are mighty close on the estimate.

EDIT: That would be over a cord per year, so waaay too much.

I split my firewood in May when it is wet in the woods and the trees are tender but the sunny firewood area is good. This will be 2026/27 wood and go in the shed in late summer.

I couldn't believe it, but I lit the stove yesterday late afternoon. It rained pretty much all day, and was raw.  Burnt up a few small pieces of wood and a bunch of cardboard and pizza boxes :wink_2: That took the edge off inside the house without spending any money

Yes, I had a fire in the kitchen stove all day Friday. Temp in the 40s, rain all day with a cold East wind.

I am still heating with wood.
I might be able to turn it off today.
Been a cool spring with not much sun.

57 outside or inside?  33 outside here, dipped to 63 inside with no fire. Maybe I should have lit one before bed but just threw a hoodie on as it should move up to the 60s.

Ran out of dry wood a month ago. Been using electric furnace, only cost $125 for a month's heat on electric. I doubt a heat pump is any cheaper to heat 3000 sq feet. I know the electric furnace it a lot cheaper than baseboard.

Guy up the road is a character, 'oh it only costs me $150/month to heat this place'. He's only heating 1/6th space I am. Some people like him think they are ahead when their going behind. Poor math skills to. LOL

Only costs me $150 for all electric use in the house when running the wood furnace. Bill this month was $275, I have grow lights going for the grow tent that is included.

Your lucky, our electricity cost just went from 14 cents a KWH delivered to 29.3 cents a KWH delivered. Too many switching to electricity without a stable supply. Live 14 miles from a nuclear plant and that all goes to Florida giving them cheap electric.

I see Ontario is building 5 modular nuke plants. I live beside 5 hydroelectric dams here. Power gen and delivery is run by a Government corporation with a mandate to deliver as cheap as possible.
