Come and get it, you can have it! Oh, and you can get a bunch of those skeeters that have now blossomed out and are spreading their love. Every time my swamp starts to firm up we get 2 days of rain and start waiting all over again. I got trees to take out, but the way it is now, if I drop them, they will be buried 12" down in the mud.
Oh, and I just checked, the t-shirt I put on ion the dark this morning says "Grumpy Old Man", but you could have guessed that.

Been nice weather here!!!
Dry for starters. Or was, a light rain as I post this. Been around 70-75 and a nice breeze to ward off them biting critters.
Looks like some 80's and more are coming. But it is mid June.

Bugs have not been real bad here. The black flies have died off and a few mosquitoes are out in the morning dew and I guess if it rains they might. Deer flies and horse flies have not been too bad either. The breezy weather has made it a challenge to fall them taller popples, it just swirls in the tree tops, so them popple can go anywhere and often need to be chopped up to get to the ground. Popples are 1-4" on the but, but them 4" ones can be almost 40 feet tall. That wind will snap off a few popples you want left to stand.  ffcheesy The ground was cut 9 years ago, a lot of old cleared field that grew back and was cut off. I'm on a 100 acre block and there are rock piles and rock walls around. Sure was a lot of hard work 140 years ago to later abandon. Sometimes they never came back from WWI.

The ground here is getting like powder, so rain is welcome any time. That dry wind and sunshine will suck the moister out of the ground.

It's 60° this morning and mid 70's are coming.
Suppose to be all clouds today.
Looks to be a light mist going on now, the eaves are dripping.

We got another 3rd of an inch since midnight, but it looks to be stopped for a while until maybe mid afternoon. The temp is coming up and we are already over yesterday's high. However that dreary overcast foggy damp condition still remains. Today is food shopping day, so maybe it will hold off until I get back to work and then start raining again. :veryangry:

Had an early shower and never rained all day since. 72° here this afternoon. Peeks of sun to. Never saw any sun at work all day.

As expected, the dreariness continued all day, but temps were in the 70's and hit a high of 80 for a few minutes. The humidity, rain or not, hung at 100%. I got some work done this afternoon and it rained a tiny bit and I worked through it, but dang I got soaked with sweat big time. So working was a bit of a push. We got more steady rain around dinner time and now sit at over 1/2" for the day, so far.

Tomorrow, not as much rain in the forecast but the temps will be in the 90's with the season's first heat index prediction in the mid 90's. I hope to finish off the tree I am working on and get the lawn all cleaned up, IF the ground dries up, right now I have standing water in the grass so forget running the mower around. ffcheesy

Gonna be another weird weather day. The forecast and reality are not in sync just yet. Forecast says sunny, but reality says foggy and overcast. Humidity is still 100% and we had a shower pass through at 5:30. Temp is 68 and everything is dripping wet. It's so quiet out there that you could hear a mouse fart at 100', not a breath of air moving.
Forecast calls for some heat today near 90 with a heavy afternoon thunderstorm, then clearing up for a few days with more heat. I am dubious of any forecast right now.
100% humidity is not my idea of good working weather but the skeeters seem to enjoy it. :uhoh:

At around 7 or so last night we had a quite sudden big thunderstorm roll in. I saw it getting a bit windy, then checked the weather app to see bright colors showing up as a wall that was coming quick. My wife was out walking to dog and she made it back in just in time. Big, big rain and wind. Lost at least a tree on the north side of the property line and saw it crash down, probably another dead ash. She said, in the wind, she'd heard something fall on the barn but all the big stuff is still standing, and a small branch on the barn will make a fair amount of noise. The temperature dropped very quickly also, from 100% humidity to quite lovely and probably 68 degrees. We opened the doors a bit once the rain had dies down and turned off the A/C for a few hours.

I stood in the back door, facing east, so most of the rain and wind was going in that direction and watched the trees blow around. It's incredible that the tops of the trees in the second picture below were bending probably 10 feet around. Lots of tree debris around town on the way into work today, and a few big trees or branches down. The creek came up over the bank behind those trees too... I've got to figure something out there. I could add material to create a swale of sorts but it's already tricky to mow. I could dig the creek out but there are lots of tree roots, and it's tricky to grade downhill, so I don't have a bunch of small stagnant ponds.
