It hit 100 in northern NH today. Not as steamy as Miss. or NC but Dang hot for here.

I keep expecting all the leaves to just wilt on the trees. I know I feel wilted !

Lynn, he can't help it and you can't fix it. It's a Texas thing they sign onto when they get their citizenship. I have family there and I walk into that wall every time I visit.  ffcheesy Tim you could try doubling your dosage because Texans really need twice as much as normal people.

Reminds me of a story I heard 40 years ago out in Central City, CO. when it was still a small gold mining town (before casinos). It seems back around 1890 or so, this fella from Texas who was a drifting gambler was making his rounds through the saloons and bars (they had a LOT in that small town) and working the poker games where he could find them. About the 3rd day he was in town he suffered an unexpected heart attack right in the middle of a poker game and died. Well, nobody knew the guy at all and they couldn't find enough info to figure out where he came from exactly. All they knew was he was a Texan, because he told everybody, repeatedly, and wore a Texas hat. He was also a big dude, about six foot forty. So they dragged him over to the undertaker who checked the guys pockets and only found 2 dollars. He said" I can't can't bury this guy for two dollars!, he's gonna need a special coffin made made because he's so tall."
So they all retreated to the saloon and started to discuss and debate what to do with this guy. Well it took a bit of whiskey to get them thinking creatively, but they finally landed on a good solution. They just gave him and enema and then they buried him in a cigar box. :wink_2:

I will say, I have been around and have found no place in the USA that has worse heat/humidity combinations than the gulf coast of Texas and they can have it! I have experienced 100% humidity there when it's not raining and if you swing your hand through the air, it comes up wet.

---------------------
It hit 100° again today with 70% humidity and that unpleasant enough for me.

It was pretty warm here in Alabama,  I threw a cup of ice up in the air and it turned to steam before it hit the ground.

But it ain't real hot yet, that'll come in August.

YellowHammerisms:

Take steps to save steps.

If it won't roll, its not a log; it's still a tree.  Sawmills cut logs, not trees.

Kiln drying wood: When the cookies are burned, they're burned, and you can't fix them.

Sawing is fun for the first couple million boards.

Be smarter than the sawdust

Your right Yellowhammer.  Summer just started.  If it would dry out, my pond might stop smoking.  It is too young to smoke.

I have probably driven 75%+ of the highways in Texas at all times of the day and night.  I have round trip crossed it 40+ times and have had the sun to rise and set on me that many times.  Pulled two ladies out of a wreck and stopped the bleeding before the ambulance got there.  Another one had a truck driver that we left in place.  He was hauling pipe when he hit a black cow/bull and the headache rack didn't hold.  The pipe came through the windshield.

Speeding tickets?

Yup I know about them, especially in Texline where the local bluelighter had a switch controlling the caution lights in town.  It was cold that morning, but I was hot!!  He did tell us that he hoped the rest of the day went better for us.  Also if you get a ticket West of Clarendon you can pay it in Claude.  Nice little convenient setup.

I did saw framing lumber for a whole two story house in Rusk in 4 1/2 days but that was a Goodwill Forestry Forum venture that included 5 other FF members.  It's a long topic if anyone cares to read it:  Goodwill Sawing

I obviously have spent too much time in Texas, so back to the HOT.

Where do you buy that ego reducer medicine?  I have a relative that needs a whole lot.
A Texas 10 gallon hat hold approx. 3 quarts.  So 40 divided by 3 = 13-1/3, which is a Texas fluff or exageration factor.

It's marketed under the trade name of "ex-lax" since ego is mostly BS anyway.  :wink_2:

You can have that HEAT. I'll stay in the glaciated north. I haven't even turned the AC on yet this year! Been warm lately but house stays cool, only 4 miles from Lake Michigan. 4 weeks ago I was fishing on the big lake with long under wear because the wind was out of the north and the water temp was 44. I also would much rather play with the mill at 30 than I would at 90....just sayin' boys. Nice cool rain this morning with the windows open.  ffcool

I'll be sharing recipes for cooking mailbox lasagna and dashboard brisket later this week.

Today's heat index for eastern NC. 81% humidity this am.

Once again MM has reminded me that the solution to many problems is through the stomach.  Thanks Lynn, now how to do it discretly.
