Well first of all, Trump is a businessman and not a professional politician.  If you think Biden, Obama, and the Clintons were angels, you got another thing coming.  no one could make all the money they did on the provided salary and be worth what they are.  Trump donates his and or declines it.  he has used the laws of the nation to his benefit.  He is not a failure but has taken chances in business and when they did not work out, he legally got out and moved on.  At least he is honest and is the same person he has always been.  If he were a politician, he would be paralyzed in saying and doing all the things he has said and done, and we are happy someone is finally doing what needs to be done.  I am thankful for your nieces' service, and she is in far better hands than the previous admins.  Biden botched a withdrawal and he and his dei folks stood around and patted themselves on the back.  Iran is already back on the negotiation table, and know that Trump will do what he says, good or bad.  Other countries are going to begin to pay for the military back up.  You are entitled to your opinion and so are we.  Godspeed.

You watch the wrong news. I think for myself. And trump haters turned this topic into what it is, I started it to welcome a new president. Posts like the last leftist made makes me thank the lord more and more Mr. Trump won. I hope I'm dead before the far left deadhead liberals get this country back, because that will be the end. The characteristics of Trump that you call out are why I voted for him (we know exactly what he is thinking, and up front and transparent with what he is thinking and what he plans to do. 
As doc says, he is not a politician willing to just say whatever to cover up what they will (or never will) do in office. 
More than in his first term, he has toned down his demeanor and comes across as being for peace and especially for the USA. In so many ways, has shown that. 
The "one big deal" has some bold steps, and in my opinion should be supported by the complaining Dems. Their best opportunity to get back in office is for that "big deal" to fail (which I don't think it will, and the Dems are very fearful that it is a good recovery plan to quit wasting money and pay off debt) and passing the bill will prove that it either is a failure or is a success. 
I think the response from investors world wide coming to the USA to produce their product and the positive stock markets, along with Canada thinking of becoming states here, good indicators of success via the thinking of a businessman, not a politician.

Fact is that if I were choosing friends, Trump would not be one of them.  That being said, when I voted I was not choosing a friend, I was choosing who I thought could and would try his best  to lead us out of this mess.  Four years of completely open borders will take many years, if it ever can be overcome.

Not just anybody off the street and not just aliens, but illegal aliens. Have some mistakes been made? I'm sure they have, but when the floodgates have been open for so long how do you get control back reasonably quickly with zero mistakes being made? I am not at all against people coming into this country legally, but we have had an out of control situation for too long. I'm glad President Trump is doing what he said he would.

Our family has skin in the game.  My niece is a newly minted ensign serving her first deployment on the Nimitz.

My family has skin in the game too. I only have 2 children and they are both currently serving active duty officers. Both in positions that are likely to be sent in to harms way if the #$%& ever hits the fan.

I agree with MM, I wouldn't necessarily choose Trump as a close friend and he has some qualities that I don't like, but I voted for him and glad I did.

The more I think about this, the more I know what a ridiculous statement that the posts on this forum are down because of this topic, that only recently, like the last few days, because of a couple trump haters, was just topic expressing a gratitude for the man that won the election.  Anything else political is in the restricted board.

I would never think I can judge someone's faith, but he seems to have evolved.  first go round he was just a businessman in office.  He seems to have evolved and learned the position.  He calls them as he sees them and is not apologetic.  If the press is a bully, you get nowhere bowing down to them.  he seems to really care about his family.  Lots of folks had bad behavior in the 70s.  I doubt we would be friends, but I would love to shake his hand and thank him for some sanity returning to our country.  Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  Making the majority stand on their heads on behalf of tiny minorities is crazy.

What? Have you forgotten how many times Tom, Doc, Tim and even you have been mean to me? You are all lucky I am such a kind and forgiving person! I consider friendly sniping to be part of the program but have never seen people be intentionally rude or mean. People do get offended and when they say so in every case I have seen the other party apologize. That is life.

  I have said several times I would not want to work for Trump but I respect what he is trying to do to repair the damage of neglect and intentional harm to our country that occurred over the last few years.

    If we had a Congress and assorted governors and mayors and such who would do their jobs and "represent the people" instead of inflating their egos and lining their pockets Trump would not have to use executive orders and such to get things done.

    Have you ever had to help clean up after a flood? Mud and debris are everywhere and you have to shovel and sweep it out then wash everything down and repair the damage. Trump is still in clean-up mode.

    I'm not saying Donald Trump is the best person to be president of the USA. Unfortunately he was the best one running in the general election and based on the choices we were offered I am 100% sure we made the right choice picking him again.

  I see people comment about "He's getting us into another war." I see it just the opposite. He's keeping us out of a war by making sure the enemy does not have the means or desire to attack us. If I remember correctly the goal of war is to "Ensure your enemy does not have the means or desire to continue to make war against you." Any cease fire between Iran and Israel are because Iran does not have the means to make war now.

Giving thought to the Forum here, I ponder if the many, many guests that apparently only read the Forum which I assume includes the huge volume of threads with extensive and quite complete information that our sponsors may not know about if they just do a bean count of how many hits or traffic as a means to decide about paying to be a sponsor. 

Maybe the guests should be limited to their access without becoming members ??  Just a thought and thinking that Jeff's kindness over the years has dismissed such thoughts. Maybe this limitation will encourage their questions that our members can respond to, rather than them finding the answers quietly on their own as "guests". 

Maybe more new threads from us "old" members about our tools or equipment that our sponsors produce will help sponsors' interest in buying-in with their advertising dollars.

Well shucks - I timed out typing up my last post and it did not make it here so this one will be briefer.
First - we all live on the same planet but view the world through the lens of our life experiences.  I like many of you am white, nearing retirement and love all things about trees.  I like to interact with people who know more than I do because I am a curious person and the day I stop learning is the day I head to the grave.  I am pretty sure we would get along fine at the pig roast as long as the topic of our current president did not come up.  I want to hear other people's opinions because they have had a different life experience than I have and may have thought of something that I did not.  I make my living as an expert in my chosen profession and after 40 years, I know a thing or two but not everything and that's what keeps me at it.  I want to hear your opinions and what you know.  Thats why I'm on the forum - to learn more about what I'm not an expert at and share my expertise with those that are learning too.  I had a laundry list of things our president is up to which I wanted opinions on in my timed out post but for now I'm not going to retype them.  As others have said, we are early in the trajectory.  Its going to be interesting to see where the arc lands.  As for politics I am so mad that I had no voice in choosing a candidate.  Government can't be run like a business - if so we'd have gone out of business a long time ago.
