Finally felt like wetting a line. First cast of the year. A purple rubber crawler with a white stripe using my Dad's old zebco rod and reel.

Are you going to fry it up or did you throw it back?  That's a cool spot to hang out that you created up there.

I tossed him back this time but I'm  thinking of doing a catch clean and eat video.  ffsmiley

Can you tell if the bluegills made it through the winter and mink attacks?

If I understand you correctly you caught him on an artificial and that surprises me. I have caught a few catfish on artificial bait but did not think of a bullhead hitting one.

I think he needs to be mounted on a plate (Deep fried of course) surrounded with cole slaw and grits and a side order of hushpuppies.

Sadly, I have not seen a single one. They should be bedding if they had.

I did catch him on just a rubber crawler. Surprised me too!  I got several hits bringing it acrossed the bottom stopoed for a moment before I was going to crank it on in and wham!

The only catfish I have ever caught on artificial bait was channel catfish. Your catfish must be mighty hungry 😋.

Bullheads like Jeff has will hit about anything. They also survive in lower oxygen environments than other fish. They are tough little buggers.

I made a really boring video tonight. Furby gave me an el-cheapo action camera that had a snap into waterproof case. I rigged it under a big bobber and tossed it out late this afternoon. I shoulda done it when the sun was higher.  The video woulda been better I suppose if we would of recorded me out in the boat with a long handled net trying to retrieve the camera that didnt come in with the bobber due to my awesome rigging job. Astonishingly enough I found it. The case was open and the camera flooded. I have it in a bowl of rice, but I highly doubt it lives. The mini sd card did however still work.

Yea, my neighbor Gary has trapped 75 native bluegill pups out of his pond this week for me so far, to try and teplenish what the mink took. These, if enough survive, will repoputate.

First all my silverware/flatware starts disappearing and @olcowhand  starts posting pictures of new artwork now I find I am missing several of the plastic pallets I had been using to stack my lumber on and Jeff suddenly starts making fish structures.

Now. mind you I ain't making no accusations or nothing. but.... ffcheesy ffcheesy ffcheesy

I am sure the fish will be real happy with that for many years to come.

I had a buddy, Jack, in Cordele Ga with a place on Lake Blackshear and he took me to the end of his dock and said "Be sure not fish down there because I put a roll of old field fence under my dock." I asked him "Oh, is that a fish attractor?" Jack replied "No, its my lure catcher. Bass and Crappie fishermen come fish under my dock and get hung on it. Every winter the power company lowers the level of the lake to work on their turbines and equipment and I go out and collect several hundred dollars worth of expensive lures."

Maybe Jeff is planning the same thing?
