But good.  As Bill said above, doing it and doing it right are two entirely different things.

I always love the angles flooring or walls, takes a lot longer but the end result is much better.

Got up here around 8:30 and hung some tarps for shade. Only gets to 75 or 80 but the sun is blazing hot.

Probably spent 8 or 9 hours and got 4 more courses down. The face of the boards is a hair over 9", so 36" added today.

Thanks for the reminder, SD. Just what I needed.

Yesterday's work of 4 rows of boards (36") was 81 sq-ft. Before lunch I had laid two rows (each row grows 20" longer) that netted 45 sq-ft. Now it I'm up to the basement stair hole. Shorter runs on each side. Hopefully it will go faster now.

LJohnsaw; The diagonal flooring looks great.
That's a lot of heavy dimensional lumber that you're laying down.
Besides looking good, it 'firms' up the frame more than a right angle flooring layout.
A question:
Generally, we close in the walls before starting to lay down flooring. It'll prevent rain or snow from water staining the wood. Are you putting anything up to stop that?

Andries, I plan on putting the exterior walls up along with the roof before the rains start towards the end of October.

Completed four and a half rows today. If I calculated it right that's 108 sq-ft. I'm getting faster.

Tomorrow I'll be laying the floor on the west side of the basement stair well. Then I'll have to move a LOT of boards.

I was thinking that the short 8 foot boards were going to be useless. They actually come in very handy. I have 8s, 10s, 11s, 12s and 13s. Running on the angle makes for a lot of off cuts but having this odd inventory is working.

The floor in the cabin is 25' wide x 49' long, 1,225 sq-ft. I have roughly 325 sq-ft down so I'm 1/4 the way done!

I wrapped up the week yesterday. Looks to be about 450 sq-ft down. About 1/3 done. The stairwell opening is dead center of this picture.

I sorted and moved one of 4 stacks of boards (The one just behind the stairwell). Some of the boards were cupped and didn't clean up completely with the planer so I set those aside.

On the left are near-perfect. On the right back, two stacks are ponderosa for the loft. In front are two stacks of partial or full rejects to be ripped into studs or whatever.

Next week I'll be working on this area and reconnect to the west side boards when I get all the way around the stairwell.

I saw this on one of my boards.

I was thinking what kind of bug dug that tunnel? How did I manage to plane out exactly in line with it? It ran about 2 feet. Then I noticed a little piece of bark at the end. Pretty sure this happened when sliding the planks...
