Is it time for show and tell yet?  :D

I was on ebay a month or so ago and started typing in searches with misspelled words. I typed in lumerjack instead of Lumberjack. I came up with one item in the search. ( Now you know my secret of finding stuff nobody else finds, by looking for mistakes. )

Anyhow I found this cool clock. All wood gears and hands and hand carved figures. The starting bid was 30 bucks. I did a little research and found out that clocks that were similar but not as large and not as nice started at 2 to 300 for just a kit. So I put on the minimum bid of 30 bucks and then forgot about it. Nobody else bid! They probably never found it. So I got my clock for $30 dollars and it is tremendous. It has a small motor that runs it. The motor is absolutely quiet and runs at 1 RPM. Yes, thats ONE RPM. that motor attaches to a cog that once a minute turns the large minute gear, which in turn turns the rest of the gears. the two sawyers at the top move back and forth. one way at 30 seconds, the other at 60 as the minute changes.

What a cool clock, Jeff!

Is it an antique, or something that is being made these days?

Congrats...and thanks for the eBay hint!

G'day Jeff,

Real nice clock, and a real bargain to to boot!  Thats what I like about ebay, you can find some really unique things, and for me, if I ask very nicely, the people often will send them internationally.  I find things that you never see, or could never get, down here.
I too have tried the misspelling trick a few times, but no luck yet for me.
Cheers
Charlie.

;D  Simply beautiful, Jeff. Haven't tried that search trick yet.  Guess it's time to go to ebay.  Good buy! 8)

I would like to have that clock sitting on a table, with some other items made of wood, at this years Outdoorama in Novi, Michigan. That way we can educate others of the beauty of wood that is only seen if the tree is cut and manufactured into something as beautiful as your clock. Thanks for sharing. ;)

Boy did you strike it rich Jeff. I was looking in one of my woodworking catologs the other day and seen that same clock pattern  along with the motors. The motor alone was $29.95 and they would throw in the pattern for free. But then you would have to add  that dreaded shipping and handling.
That's a good find keep up the searching .

Shipping and handling ain't nothing Hillbilly, compared to trying to cut accurate gears with all those teeth. That's enough to drive a man bonkers. I'd opt to buy the kit which is about $250 if I remember right.   ::)  Yep, Jeff got a heckuva deal. Funny though, that Jeff collects Paul Bunyan stuff when he never went to Michigan. He lived up around Bemidji, Minnesota and is buried not far outside Rochester, Minnesota. :P
