That must've slipped around us Harold. All we have is water.... lots of it.   My yard squishes when you walk on it and the driveway has holes and ruts big enough to lose a compact car.

They keep talking about Global Warming. ??? I'll be DanGed if I remember it being this cold when I was a kid.  Frost in Ft. Pierce was so rare that we would get up early in the morning trying to see it. The Orange groves would burn a tire or two just in case and Granddaddy kept a fire in the fire place. Global Warming?   Shaw! :-/

I stepped out of the house for a few minutes yesterday to see if it had warmed up any.  It hadn't.  Man, a fellow could get cabin fever if this were to keep up long, Eh?  that's Canadian ;D  I'm studying a foreign language.

Fla._Deadheader

How'd you do that??? I tried fer 30 minuets to make shaky-leanin fonts. Finally gave up afore I froze, and went and got me another cuppa java.

I read something on global warming the other day. It's gonna lead to an ice age according to the latest theory (well, maybe just the latest theory I've heard ::) ), this was written up in the Christian Science Monitor. Let me see if I can get it straight, I had to start the stove the other night...The ocean currents are actually the "heat pump" of the planet, distributing the tropical warmth throughout the colder climes. They flow around the tropics and then north carrying heat with them. As the currents get to the poles they cool and become denser falling beneath the upflowing current then return to the tropics deep...a thermosiphoning pump. This all works as long as the saline content of the water is right. The problem now is with the polar ice caps shrinking, alot more fresh water is flowing in at the top of the loop and preventing the cool water from sinking. The pump stagnates and the heat stays down in the tropics and the cold remains up north...no tempering. They were claiming this is what happened in the little ice age about 500 years ago.

Fla._Deadheader

Sounds about right to me. The water we are diving in, here in Florida, is about 55 degrees and it's flowing to the North. Should be in the Arctic about 2005 give or take a few days.  ;) ;)

Yeah but the cold is supposed to be staying in the north and the heat in the south.  :-/  Something about that doesn't sound like it's working. ??? :-/

Fla._Deadheader

Maybe the Oklawaha really starts in Antarctica??? That's south of here and the Oklawaha comes from South Florida???

Yea but not in Alaska yet.   I have a Gold King Hibanker dredge combo but I killed the pump in Arizona pumping sandy water and it's been on my fix list for 3 years now.   My brother maks about a forth of his liveing from gold down in Arizona.   He has a setup that fits a 5 gallon bucket and will run all day on the water you pack in, it's made down under for the dry Outback fields.   I may go over to Nome this summer and do the GPAA camp for a week with the wife and I will have a pump by spring so I can try my luck around the Mat-Su Valley hear.   How long has it been that you were up hear?

I just called my Debarker operator and we are waiting till 9 to decide if we are going to try for work. we have 1/4 inch of ice and its still raining. I have some severe hills between me and the mill and I aint smashing my truck up so I am staying put.

The forcast calls for warming to 50 today!  50o in mid December in Michigan. Thats crazy
I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Hi Andy. I was up there in June. Spent a week at a private claim and got just over 4 ounces. Would like to get back to Alaska and do some mining with some of the folks I met at the camp.

This one is just over 3 oz.

This one is .87 oz.

This one is .28 oz. Altogether,10 of us got just over 4 pounds, nearly ALL detecting.

Tom

I think you screwed up Harold. :D

It worked ok for me.  Here is what I think you did.  When you selected bignug you picked the address by clicking on the verbage "add this image to post".  That put the address on your clipboard.

When you went back for the mednug and smallnug pictures, you clicked on the little blue box under the verbage and didn't over-write your clipboard.  If you had clicked on the verbage "add this image to post" then you would have gotten a confirmation in a big blue box that would have told you what to do next.

Now, I noticed that you  had two copies of these nuggets on the gallery where you  had mis-focused one set. In the first set, the mednug1 is out of focus and mednug2 is in focus.  I picked the in-focus one thinking that perhaps you would prefer it.  The second set has the smallnug1 focused and smallnug2 unfocused.  I again picked the focused one hoping that was what you intended.  On your post now is bignug, mednug2 and smallnug1.

Would you like for me to delete those bad pictures from the gallary to save space?

Fla._Deadheader

Boy. Here I thought I had done it correctly. NOW, how did you access the gallery and find them suckers ??? I been tryin that.  Maybe you would do everybody a favor and just DELETE ME !! ::) ::) ;)  Thanks, Tom

Go up to the top of the page and to the right on that brown colored line. There is a thing that says "PhotoGallery"  If you click on that you can look at ALL the pictures people have put on the forum.  To take them back off requires access to the forum software.  See, knowing that the Gallery exists lets you reuse pictures. ;D

Fla._Deadheader

OK OK I MAY have it figgered out. Just have to REMEMBER what the pic was named, so you can find it again. ::) ::) ;)

Thanks, Tom   BTW, delete those bad ones. Thanks

That's why I have recommended that folks create a naming convention.  I have tried to begin my pictures with tom so a file name may read tompineinhoosydoozy.jpg  That way, at least all my pictures will be in one area because they are sorted in alpha order.

You might use fdh for your photo Id.

Fla._Deadheader

GOOD IDEE. Now, if I can just remember to do that every time. ;) ;)

That must have come from around Fairbanks, right?   The stuff on the beach at Nome is about all flower and very fine, thay take the ribs out of the box over there.   If you get up this way we should get togather and see what we can find.
Andy

Fla._Deadheader

Hi Andy. That stuff came from Ganes Creek. It is about 30 miles from McGrath. One of the owners was killed in a plane crash this past fall. A real swell guy.

DonT know if you knew about Gene Bunkley (Goldak) from Fl and Alaska. He passed away last night. Was thinking about going up to his claims next year for a couple weeks. There are several guys in Anchorage that would welcome you on the occasional week-end. Let me know if you would like to contact some of them.

I have not been over that way.   I want to take a sled trip on the Iditarod trail to Nome this winter but wont make it, if we ever get enouf snow I will be geting logs out on it.   This time last year we had over 40" in the yard and this year about 2" or less so if it comes wont have time to play, thay are thinking there may not be a race this year due to no snow.

Cant say as I know a Gene Bunkley but I am very sad to hear he pased on!  FL to AK is quite a trip but I am shocked all summer long at the cars and RV's from FL that come up, FL is right with WA in numbers of people coming up in the summer.    I may give you a shout after brakeup for some names to go diging with, lots of people around hear got gold fever.
Andy
