Cypress Man

Hello everyone.  I have been following this forum for some time now and thought I'd give it a try.  My Dad and I have been sawing for six years now and still learning something new each day.  We've recently sold our 2000 WM HD40G25, and bought a 2006 WM Super with the 25 hp three phase electric motor.  WOW, what a difference !!!  We live in central Louisiana and only cut cypress lumber.  We also use a 36" wide cresent planner, an Extrema three head moulder and a home made dehumidifier kiln.  We have been sawing a lot of wide boards (16"- 27"wide) boards recently.  Sawing them is easy, sticker stacking them is the hard and hot part.  My wife has a new digital camera so I'll send pictures as soon as i figure it out.

Welcome to the forum.  Care to share any pictures/lessons learned on your kiln ;D

I'm about 1/3 finished with a solar kiln, but I may have located a reefer trailer for cheap and it has me thinking about a dh unit.

Betchya had a little bit of a learning curve to get over going from the Standard HD to the Super.  We did.  :P

My kiln is 20' wide x 12' deep and hold approximately 3000bf of lumber.  It has a 4' baffle wall with four fans, one electric heater(only ran in winter months), and two dehumidifiers.  It takes 3 to 4 weeks to dry lumber under 10% moisture content.  It's not the fastest in the world but it works for me.

Welcome to the forum Cypress Man!

Wish you were closer to me her in  NE Florida. I bet I get asked for Cypress lumber at least once a week. so far I havent been able to find the logs for it. I sure could sell a lot of it if I had the logs.
I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok, I work all night and sleep all day
