not one of my 7 load manuals lists a 150 gr cast bullet load for the 30-30. i intend to load a fun shooting round, not a heavy load. just something to shoot steel and plink with. anybody have a book with a 150gr gas check round nose 30-30?

Bill

FWIW -

A '74 Speer manual just warns that the case doesn't handle higher pressures than the spec because of thin brass used in the case ( case head failure )  - so they advise not to exceed the standard pressure  - otherwise only jacketed rounds are listed.

Good Luck - and careful out there . . .

Get on ebay and look for an RCBS cast load book.  The lyman manual is also a wealth of information

I shoot a 170gr out of my 30-30 bolt gun and use 7gr of green dot or 6gr of 700x.  These are STARTING loads.

If you need others let me know.  I have lots of info on lead loads.  We cast a lot of bullets around here.

thanks for the reply.
i have a lyman book, but it doesnt list a 150gr. it lists only 169, and a 170. the bullets i have were given to me by a friend, and weigh out at 150 with a gas check. good looking high quality cast bullets. i looked on ebay last night but didnt find a cast bullet book. i load alot of cast bullets, but this is a first for the 30-30

I found the book

30-30  150gr flat nose

IMR     4895  27gr
IMR     4198  20 gr
unique  10gr
These are the starting loads  If you need anything else just give a shout.
