The old feller was half way through making it portable when he met his untimely demise  :(

Putting this all back together is gonna be like a blind magician drawing an elephant - there will be questions  ;D

The blade is 44" diameter with 32 teeth, inserts with Simonds-F stamped on them.

Congrats. Hope his untimely demise was not across that blade. :o

The oil is all in Texas, but the dipsticks are in D.C.

Farmhand............is that the name of the mill or did he borrow some parts from a front-end loader.  Nothing (well, not literally true) like having your own mill.  What do you consider to be an old feller?   ::)
Here's to us and those like us; DanG few of us left!

Well, looks like ya have a new summer, the aspen are leaved out in the back ground.

I woke up to snow on the trees on thursday morning. All was well by noon and dry by mid afternoon. I thought I missed summer or slept 6 months.  ;D :D

Good luck with the mill, looks like some work ahead.  ;D 8)

The "old feller" was only about 75  ;)
He was hauling farm equip. for one of his boys and stopped on the side of the highway to check his load. Another truck came along and ran over him  :(

The Farmhand had sort of a mini-quanset on the back (you can see it in the upper left corner of the second picture) and there was a pick-up that tossed loose hay in. When it was full you trip the lever and a haystack dropped out the back. You had to go around and groom them by hand after or they didn't shed water as well. Then along came BIG bales.

When running right, one of those can keep two greenchain handlers (Tailers) running!

Find you an old sawyer, that has fond memories of how to set it up. You will give him something to live for, and he will give you knowledge that you don't have.
