I had a feller stop by this afternoon and tell me had some things for sale, namely a steel tilt bed utility trailer. I did not need another trailer, but he said he wanted $150 for it, that was worth the 4 block drive. Turns out the trailer was a heap and I did not even stop.

On my way back home I passed a house that the family was cleaning out. They are getting ready for an estate sale this weekend. I stopped to wish my condolences, cause I knew the guy. Vietnam vet (second one in this town of 1100 to die of brain tumor in 3 months ?), good dude but very eccentric. Anyway I introduced myself ...and check out the stuff. I said I lived down the street, had a little sawmill and did some woodworking and tool sharpening. The man, it was a couple the sister and brother in law, told me they had some old tools for sale if I wanted to look through them. I was looking for old planes and whatnot.

Here is the stuff I dragged home. The saws are in the back.

There was a 4', 5'6" and 6' saw.

I also found this cool little jeweler lathe. It runs good, the foot pedal it a rheostat, I just need a belt.

Look at the itty bitty tool rest.

I figured it was a jewelers lathe cause it says "watch-craft" on the motor.

Here is a closeup of the mini metal mill, I assume it was for jewelry making too? Or small metal hobby stuff (hey I can make that mini cannon I have always wanted to  :D) There is alot of bits and a couple extra beds.

The name plate says it was made in Austria. It runs good too. I gave everything a shot of lube spray, I will clean them up in the morning. I have no idea how old these machine are ? Anyone know anything about this stuff?

So I pick out the stuff that I am interested in, just the things in the pictures. I open my wallet and only have $30, just bought some gas  :o (I have $150 in my shirt pocket, the original mission, the junk trailer I drove right past) I show the guy the $30 and empty wallet. It suits him and we load my new toys in the truck and off I go  8)

I did some searching and found this video. This guy has alot of this kinda stuff on youtube. What I thought was an on/off switch is a forward/reverse switch  ::). It was near dark when I picked the stuff up. The pedal he is using is the same as mine, and the motor is a Watch-Craft. I may give him a holler.

You got a deal. That unimat sold for about 400 new. I used one in the lab for years. You can machine to tolerances to .001 with that thing, you just can't take very big bites.

Two misery whips and a bucking saw.  :o My back hurts just looking at them.
They do male nice conversation pieces to hang on the wall though. ;)

Daren,

Great find and good deal. If I ever sell you something I'm going to check your shirt pockets first. :D

BBK I agree. :D :D :D

So did my wife. I told her I was going to sharpen them and make a youtube video of us bucking a log here in the yard. She said "I am running the camera, I have no idea on earth how you are going to be on both ends of that saw by yourself ?"  :D

I did not even bring up the whole camera on the tripod thing, she kinda made her point it was not likely for her to be on the other handle.  ::)

When I saw you had replied I thought for sure it was going to be about the "pocket" money.  ;) You gave me some advice one time about "going shopping", if I hid money on me as many places as you told me too I would forget some of it for sure and Lisa would find it in the wash  ::). Hey if she can "make money" doing laundry I don't blame her for not wanting to saw logs  :D.

The saws are hanging on the wall, I reckon that is where they will stay for awhile.

Don't give away my secrets. :)

My wife regularly scores when she does the wash. I stuff my change in my pocket in stores and put it in the wallet later - except when I forget. And I forget alot. When I discuss myy ADD isually forget what I am talking about, around the "A" or at least the first "D" on a good day. :D

You guys are lucky your wife waits to find the extra $$$ in the wash!  (hoping she never reads this)

I'm just kiddin'.  I'm very blessed and my wife is a *very* patient woman.  She does raid my extra change all the time, tho.  Think she's saving it up for a trip to Europe or somethin'.  :)
