I swam the creek and got to the log yard. All of my hands are behind flooding creeks and can not get here. The rain has blown in with the hard wind and all the mills are wet. I threw the breaker on the 480 3ph so it would not short and blow fuses. We have had 5 inches of rain since last night and the lakes are full and the creeks and rivers are flooding. The Buffalo came up over 15 feet this morning. The lakes are having to open the flood gates so everyone down stream are getting flooded.
Lots of Yankees built nice homes on the hay fields. Thunk us poor hill folks for being fools for not building on the prettiest places there was. The reason them places were flat was because of days like this. They will be under water soon.
Nater just north of us right now headed north east. When one heads this way I will be off this ridge just to much stuff to be blowing around.

Went to take Paul to the bus this morning. His bus driver said he was bringing his kids back home after he delivered the 2 kids that did get on so I took Paul back off the bus. Good thing, because now I can't get across the creek.

them yankees that built homes on flat land will be hollering for the government to do something. they will want the government to stop the flooding and rebuild thier homes for them so they can get flooded again.
according to the news there are still people in new orleans still sitting on thier ass hollering for the government to come help them. :

We've been on the northern edge of a lot of these storms that have tracked out of Texas and across or brothers Tom-in-Mo and Arky. We have had three dry years in a row and needed the rain. But we've got enough now. The ponds are full and the ground is saturated. The creeks have ran bank full a number of times with some local flash floods in the area but nothing like down south of us.

I just took this picture from our front porch. The major stream is a quarter mile away and running bank full. We don't need any more rain but it looks like we're going to get it just the same.

Yeah, here we go again. I made it out this morning with out the long walk, but won't make it home tonight unless, I walk, which I may. My wife said at about 10:00 this morning it was as high as it peaked out last time around.
Arky, I was thinking about you and started to call when a fellow south of you came up to pick his mill. He had made it to Doniphan, Mo. and stayed last night.
I was told that officals were evacuating some folks in one part of town. Ole Adaminmo didn't make to work and someone called him and asked where his dedication was ;). I don't blame him at all. He first called in to see where I was, now thats a friend........

Arky, ain't that the truth. Most of this valley is flood plain and that is where most of the homes are. Last year there was a big outcry for the gubermint to do something and what it shudda done because the Fraser was about to jump the dikes. Well DUH, the rich farmland is a product of that flooding.

The creek acros the driveway (whats left of it, looks like I get to fix it again) is starting to go down some but I still wouldn't try to cross it. I have a neighbor just bellow me, also on this side of the creek. Seems one of his buddies ain't quite as sharp as the rest of us. I heard shots and a horn honking so went to investigate. Had to pull him out. His vehicle was just about to wash away.

All the schools are closed in Fort Smith due to high winds, tornado's, and flooding. They had widespread baseball size hail last night, that destroyed cars and stripped vinyl siding off houses. Even a couple of the local TV stations shut down when the broadcasters headed for storm shelters.

Our rain gauge overflowed last night at 6". Were on a high ridge overlooking Beaver Lake which is in flood stage. But iffen we get flooded, the world is in big trouble.

Right now it is an absolutely beautiful day...sunshine, right temperature, and a light breeze. I've been loading firewood most of the day for delivery in the morning.

They are making a REAL big deal about this storm system here.

Because the expected huge temp swing over a realatively small part of the country, they are preparing for lots of tornadoes tomorrow.
We'll see I guess.

I checked the corp lake level report for Beaver Lake just a bit ago. They have the flood gates open partially but not keeping up with the inflow. Kathy thought we need to make a trip to the dam in the morning...standby for pics.

Beaver Lake dumps into Table Rock Lake, which dumps into Bull Shoals Lake which has tremendous flood control capacity. Bull Shoals is near full and dumping into the White River which dumps into the Mississippi. Watch out down stream.

Sun popped out after lunch and it got to 80 degrees. Blue bird skies right now at 5:50 pm but they are calling for some wrap around this evening and bad storms because of the warm up.

Bull Shoals Lake (just north over the hill from the sawmill) is at 692 feet right now and top flood pool is 695 feet. We got about 6 inches of rain today and both Beaver and Table Rock lakes are dumping through the flood gates into the Bull. The lake is very large and covers around 60,000 surface acres with depths of 90 ft. and is the last lake on the White River till it gets to the Mississippi. The Norfork lake is a lake on the North Fork of the White River which is about 30 miles down steam of Bull Shoals lake. It has been using the flood gates all day to drop the lake. Down stream is flooding. I had water front property on Crooked Creek this morning.

Hmmmmmm!! Guess you haven't been watching "This Old House" lately. The bureaucracy (notice I didn't say government) IS building new houses for the screamers in New Orleans.

I well remember the thread about the screamers we had on the forum right after Katrina. Interesting reading. Gotta look that one up again.

I didn't here of any one having to be evacuated here in doniphan. I haven't went and looked at the river yet i will in the morn. I know that Piedmont got hit again people were being taken out of there.
I talked to a forester and he said we've had more rain in 4 weeks than all winter. I just want to get back to work .

Maybe you guys in Arkansas and Missouri need to use some of your stored wood to build an ark. Sounds like parts of those states are getting ready to head to the gulf. The bank I work for was working with tech support in Monett, Missouri yesterday and some of the techs had to grab their laptops and head for the suburbs to find a comm line still up. All the comm lines in their corporate offices downtown drowned. This is what downtown looked like at noon yesterday.

Well I made it in today and Tom_in_Mo didn't sell my desk!! 8) The water was about 5 or 6 foot deep at the crossing I have to cross to come to work. The water got higher out toward my place this time than it did a few weeks ago in the one that flooded Ellington,Mo. I will try to get some pics posted next week.(Don't have my camera with me today.) Leaving to go to Branson after work today.I have heard that parts of it were flooded as well.

I know one part of Arkansas that headed toward the gulf. I've redone my driveway twice in 3 weeks. Keeps washing away. >:( What the rain takes the creek gives back though. I just go scoop out some more gravel. Somebody elses driveway probably. :D
