Glad to see your interested. I'm a '77 model as well.  Now it's obvious you're already too far gone to back out, the "Good Deal" you were after wasn't and it never even slowed you down!!  Forget about that one, off to Woodmizer!!

Well, the trip to Wood-Mizer wasn't to be, as John decided to get engaged during his week off instead of going to look at saw mills.

Instead, we loaded up some pine, maple, and 1 half rotten cherry log and took them to Faron's mill yesterday.  We did our best to stay out of his way and I think we got through the batch of them in about 5 hours, with a lunch break thrown in as well.  It was pretty cool to see the logs that we pulled out of the woods get turned into use-able lumber.  We got them stacked in an unheated barn at my father-in-law's old shop.

I can't wait to start using that lumber.  I hope to use the pine 2x4's to build a goat barn this fall and John is hoping to use the maple and cherry for cabinets in the home he and his fiance are planning to build after they get married.  I think it'll be a real treat to be able to build something out of lumber that we harvested and watched be milled.

Thanks again Faron!

RUN!!! Do not read anymore about having a sawmill, don't think about it, don't even consider it!  This place made me drool for 3 years before I finally got a mill, and then it was 2 years before I could look at a tree without considering how I'd saw it up.  I find myself cutting potatos for fries and wondering if I should flatsaw, quarter, or just work it around. (I always start with the removal of the worst face ;D)

Dooleysm, welcome!  You're gonna like it here.

Todd I can relate to you brother.....I just bought a Woodmizer LT40 Super and a ED26 edger.I find my self looking at trees that are down on side of the road....or in peoples yards wondering how I could cut them........It INSANE! But I love it ! :)
